HoopsHype Khloe Kardashian rumors

What could be better than one Kardashian (if you're into that kind of pop culture craze)? Two Kardashians. That exactly what the American Airlines Center got on Wednesday night as both Khloe and her sister, Kim, showed up for the Mavericks-Phoenix Suns game. Khloe, wife of Mavericks forward Lamar Odom, has been a regular at Dallas games this season, of course. Odom played another solid game for the Mavericks, scoring 15 points and adding five rebounds and two steals in Dallas' 98-89 win over the Suns. Dallas Morning News

Lamar Odom saw the reports out of Los Angeles that said the Lakers thought he was distracted by the reality show in which he co-stars with wife Khloe Kardashian . Odom said he hasn't spoken to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban about whether he'll continue the show. "He seems like the guy that he'll really like it though; he's outgoing and rambunctious," Odom said. According to TMZ, cameras will definitely follow Odom and Kardashian on their journey to Dallas, and that the move and their new life in Dallas will be a plot in both shows. Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Fill in the punchline as you may. Los Angeles Lakers forward (and co-star of Khloé & Lamar) has been named the national spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month, which is in September. Odom will appear in national TV and radio public service announcements beginning in August, which will add Internet presence the next month. Odom was 12 when his mother died at the age of 35 from colon cancer, and the fact that she had insurance enabled him to continue. “When I began my pro career, one of the first things I did was buy life insurance to make sure that my loved ones would always be taken care of,” Odom offers in advertising.” According to the Life Insurance and Market Research Association, 30% of U.S. households have no life insurance. The June issue of GQ magazine is out, which means it’s time for swimsuit coverage. And who better to model these new shorter swimsuits than the NBA player most likely to be photographed by a beach this summer? That’s why Kris Humphries — who is sure to be snapped frolicking in the surf with his girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, a minimum of 70 times this offseason — got the call. That’s the power of the Kardashian family marketing machine. Just ask Lamar Odom. Even better, Kris was interviewed for the piece, with his lone published quote being “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” as a response to what people should watch if there’s a lockout next year. Not a joke, that is the extent of the words that came out of his mouth that were quoted in this article. Literally just the name of his girlfriend’s reality television show. That’s it. The Score

'Keeping up with the Kardashians' is ready to come back for its next season, but they will have a new cast member this season. Kim Kardashian's boyfriend Kris Humphries will be joining the cast of the show. Kris is a NBA basketball player for the New Jersey Nets. We are already used to seeing Lamar Odom with Khloe Kardashian on this show and 'Khloe & Lamar' which focuses on their relationship instead of the entire family. Examiner

Khloé Kardashian tried to warn her husband, Lamar Odom, that filming a reality show wouldn't be easy. "We literally film our shows seven days a week for 12 to 18 hours a day. They want you to be at your wit's end and tired. I think he thought we could send the cameras away whenever you want, but you can't. And I didn't want to put him under that pressure. He has his first career," she said, referring to Odom's job as a professional basketball player for the Lakers. Los Angeles Times

Viewing the scheduling issues as merely a challenge, Odom agreed to be a part of "Khloé & Lamar," an E! docuseries centering around the famous couple who wed in 2009 only a month after they met. The show premiered in April, immediately attracting a strong 2.6 million viewers. But the program almost never made it to air: Less than a week into production, the Lakers forward decided he wanted out. "By the third or fourth day, I realized how tough and demanding it was going to be. I was like, 'I don't think I could do this,'" Odom, 31, said in a recent telephone interview. "But we worked through it. What I do is, like, usually on a game day, I won't film, because I have to have my mind in a certain place and I have to rest my body." Los Angeles Times

Given Ochocinco's appeal and influence, advertisers should probably go after him more. He is most associated with Motorola, whose reported $400,000 deal with him included sponsorship of his Twitter page. Although there are many LeBron bashers out there, he did finish the regular season with the most popular jersey in the NBA and his place on this list proves that people still listen and react to him. Mike Vick is obviously a tremendously polarizing figure, so it's amazing to find him up so high on the list. He's currently losing to Peyton Hillis in the Madden cover vote, so he might want to use his Twitter influence to get some more votes. Although Stewart Cink was the golfer who originally pushed Twitter, it's 21-year-old Rory McIlroy leading the golfers. Tiger Woods' sphere of influence doesn't seem to have been affected by his scandal and his lack of winning. Connections to the Kardashians certainly seem to help. Lamar Odom is married to Khloe Kardashian and Reggie Bush was once with Kim Kardashian. NBA players have done some great work on Twitter — as Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade, Steve Nash and Dwight Howard are all on this list. CNBC

It's the sports fan in me, but I was more intrigued with Lakers Executive Vice President Jeanie Buss recently meeting with Odom to express her sentiments on how well he's played this season and how the organization truly appreciates his presence. Instead, that one-minute clip is overshadowed with middle-school dramas such as Khloé's insecurity about her weight and Odom's refusal to clean the house because he's used to a maid cleaning up after him. The supposed tension between the two quickly dials down by the end of the half-hour episode, and given the fact that the production crew films plenty of footage, I'm sure how it played out in real life was the equivalent of what a typical "Seinfeld" episode was about: Nothing. The truth is, if I’m going to like reality, I kind of want to see some crazy stuff during the episode. Khloe and Lamar are actually kind of cutesy and loving together. Good for them and their relationship, of course, but not terribly exciting for me. The stuff involving Lamar’s father is actually kind of bad, but also sort of uncomfortable to watch, because it’s really sad. I’m hopeful that some of the other Kardashians besides Rob will make an appearance in the 8 episode season (besides Kourtney, who appears for a few minutes to do a book signing with her sister), if only to see some extended family conflict. A short preview at the end of the episode shows some upcoming fights and problems. I don’t want to see reality stars going totally nuts on each other on television, or breaking up, but I do need some entertainment and pretend fights every once in a while. Fortunately, the show seems to be setting that up going forward. Tune in to the premiere of Khloe and Lamar tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on E! Channel. Below are a few sneak peeks from the premiere episode, mostly surrounding the problems with Lamar’s father, Joe. TVOvermind

"When you're a finesse player and make a move and go to the hole, some people say you're soft," said Odom, who acknowledged that he used to have that reputation andthat his recent unisex fragrance ad in which he appears unclothed with Khloe Kardashian has given opponents more ammo. "I know a lot of people who are big and bulky and go to the hole and trick you with it, and they think they're playing hard and tough, but it's just a misperception." Los Angeles Times

How is Khloe and Lamar going to be different than Keeping up with the Kardashians? Khloe Kardashian: “I think it’s a very different show. You know now there’s finally a really strong male figure that is prominent on every single episode. You know a lot of people, maybe not you John (Ireland), but a lot of people do not know Lamar for being Lamar. They know him as this incredible athlete, but they don’t know his personality and his family life and just how he is as a person. He’s hilarious and he’s out-going and silly. He’s just an amazing person, but people don’t get to see that when he plays obviously. This is really going to give people insight on who he is and get to see another side of him.” Sports Radio Interviews

Why does your name come up first on the television show? How do you assert yourself as “the boss” in the relationship? “Because I’m the boss. No I just think Lamar knows how to let me feel like I’m the boss, but Lamar and I, love and adore to death, but if I wasn’t there to tell Lamar you have practice at this time. I have to wake him up every morning. He would just…he’s not someone that’s very prompt all the time. That’s why he always calls me ‘the boss.’ I’m always bossing him around.” How sloppy is Lamar Odom? “He is a…honestly I’ve never met someone as sloppy and slobbish as he is. I understand it when he gives me his reason. He’s been in the league and this is his 12th season and you know he’s use to being in hotels and traveling and everyone cleans up after him. When he’s at home he’s just use to throwing things and taking one shoe off there and one shoe off here, but like he will literally open the refrigerator and than not shut it. I don’t understand. He just takes milk and leaves it out on the counter. He just like could care less.” Sports Radio Interviews

Back in January, we noted that Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom and his wife, Khloe Kardashian, had landed a reality TV show . Ever since that news broke, I've just been sitting here at my computer waiting to write a follow up post every time something new comes out about the show. It's been a long three months, and I got sidetracked by the launch of their unisex fragrance --"Unbreakable" -- and the super creepy ad for it. I'm proud to announce the TV show, titled "Khloe and Lamar" has officially released its trailer. CBSSports.com
