Humphries appeared on ESPN's "First Take" on Thursday, and was asked the following by Stephen A. Smith: "The Kris Humphries we saw this past season, is that you, or were you a bit distracted?" Humphries replied: “I think there’s always a little bit of distraction with any situation like that. Sometimes it’s a tougher situation within the team, as well. “But next year I’m looking to come back, and I’ll be a free agent after next year. Miraculously, NBA players always seem to have a little more fire in that year. I mean, it is what it is, but I’m excited to be back.” ESPN.com ![]() On Monday, Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian were officially, finally and incontrovertibly divorced, ending the Nets longest running soap opera (other than the coaching search of course) On Thursday, Humphries sat down with Stephen A. ![]() Brooklyn Nets guard Joe Johnson made it clear to a judge in Georgia -- postpone his baby mama trial until AFTER the NBA playoffs ... or risk angering the entire team's passionate fan base. As TMZ first reported, Joe filed a suit against baby mama Shannon Beckton to be legally recognized as the father of their kid and share custody. The case was set to be heard between April 15 and May 5. Like teammate Kris Humphries, that trial window was a BIG problem for Joe ... since the Nets made the playoffs and it could easily conflict with court times. To get the date moved, Joe explained to the judge he's a key member of the Nets and "a vital part of that team's success." TMZ.com |

Twitter @rodboone ![]() Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian reached an agreement on a divorce settlement that will be finalized this morning, the Daily News as learned, ensuring the Nets forward will neither miss a practice or playoff game as the team prepares its series against the Bulls. Humphries didn’t have to fly to L.A. for the settlement meeting – which Kardashian attended –and instead was at the Nets’ practice in New Jersey. New York Daily News He was hoping to take the divorce to court, which was scheduled for May 6, but realized he would’ve had to miss games in order to get his marriage annulled on the premise that it was a sham created for reality TV. The Nets weren’t happy about the prospect of Humphries missing games or practices following a meeting on the subject, making his decision easier. He had skipped a previous divorce settlement meeting to be with the Nets in Indianapolis. New York Daily News |

![]() If Kris Humphries were listening closely from New York, he could have heard a California judge screaming at his lawyer in court -- because Kris blew off a mandatory court appearance -- and it's worse than we first thought. As we reported ... the settlement conference was scheduled for 8:30 AM today, but sources connected with Kris told TMZ ... he was stuck in New York. We're told in court today ... Judge Goldberg went nuclear, saying Kris could have caught a flight and that he mocked and disrespected the court. Judge Goldberg was so pissed ... he set a sanction hearing -- meaning Kris may be hit with fines for being a no-show. TMZ.com ![]() Unless the Concord was taken out of mothballs last night, there's no way Kris Humphries is going to appear for a MANDATORY settlement conference with Kim Kardashian today ... Kris Humphries responded to his return to the rotation without much enthusiasm or hope, rising from his postgame meal to give terse answers like, “If I’m out there, I’m out there.” It was mostly an encouraging cameo for the power forward in Saturday’s 101-95 loss to the Clippers, highlighted by a soaring block on Matt Barnes in the second quarter. His first appearance since March 2 didn’t go unnoticed in the Staples Center by the Hollywood-savvy fans, who raised the crowd volume when Humphries lost a jump ball to brother- in-law Lamar Odom. New York Daily News Odom's Los Angeles Clippers are better than Humphries' Brooklyn Nets, so the 101-95 result didn't surprise anyone. But it was important, mostly for the moment when the referees awkwardly realized they were going to put those two together in a jump ball. Hollywood rejoiced. "The most enthusiasm ever in NBA history at a jump ball," the play-by-play announcer on YES Network said. It's got to be top 10. Odom won the jump ball, too, probably because he's an inch taller and several inches longer than Humphries, but maybe because he stuck it out through the trials and tribulations with the Kardashian family, while Humphries turned his back on the billionaire in-laws. When Kris Humphries embarked upon his NBA career with the Jazz in 2004, he looked up and saw Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko ahead of him in the rotation. He was traded to the Raptors in 2006, just in time to sit behind Andrea Bargnani and Chris Bosh. In 2009, he was traded to the Mavericks, where Dirk Nowitzki reigned at power forward. “I’ve been in tough situations in the past,” Humphries said. “If you remember when I came to the Nets [in 2009-10], I wasn’t really in their plans. They drafted [Derrick] Favors, traded for [Troy] Murphy, signed Joe Smith. I was playing with the fourth or fifth team in training camp.” New York Post “For me, it’s play hard in the limited minutes,” Humphries said. “Some nights I might play in the first half, not in the second half. Me a little bit in the first, Mirza a little in the second which is tough on both of us, but it’s coach’s decision. We’ve got to come in with energy and be energy guys.” New York Post The event at Brooklyn Bowl drew Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Andray Blatche, Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace. All seemed to have a good time, even though D-Will did compare Kris Humphries to a "robot" ... and then thought better of it. NetsDaily |

![]() In other news, Nets interim coach P.J. Carlesimo said power forward Kris Humphries will return to the rotation "sooner rather than later." Humphries has not played the past five games after being pulled from the rotation in favor of Mirza Teletovic. "I'm not going to say I'm happy and all that," Humphries said of sitting. "But it's Coach's job to make decisions and be held accountable for those decisions, and it's my job to be ready to play." ESPN.com |
