A brief summer league chit-chat with Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. On the addition of Lamar Odom to Clippers: "Lamar and I actually worked out [Wednesday]. It was good. Lamar is a huge threat offensively and defensively at different positions. He's gonna help us out a lot this year. He can handle the ball, me and him and Blake in the pick-and-roll with [Chris Paul], it's going to be good. He's an all-around great player, so it's going to be good for us. "Last year, we're not really worried about that. We're just about him, with the Clippers, and how much he's going to help us. Not just Lamar but we just signed Chauncey, we just got Grant Hill. That's a lot of veterans [to add to the mix]." ESPN.com |

Nash will receive a three-year deal in excess of $25 million, sources said, because the Suns ultimately agreed to sign-and-trade him to the Lakers, who can absorb Nash via the trade exception they created by dealing Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks in December. In return, the Suns get four draft picks -- first rounders in 2013 and 2015 and second rounders in 2013 and 2014. ESPN.com Howard Beck: Cruel twist for Knicks: That trade exception L.A. used to obtain Nash? It was created in Tyson Chandler trade, then sent to LA in Odom deal. Twitter |

Adrian Wojnarowski: With Lamar Odom pulling out, Team USA needs frontcourt help and Davis has been determined to try and play in the London Olympics. Twitter ![]() If anything, Odom is honest and open about his emotions. “Life has humbled me in so many different ways that I’m fortunate,” Odom said. “I’m blessed to come back to what I consider home to play professional basketball.” While he acknowledged that no one can truly anticipate what’s around the corner, he insists he’s in a much better place internally. “You never know what life is going to bring you,” Odom said. “The things that we go through prepare us for things to come- I’m a lot more prepared to go through adverse times.” HoopsWorld ![]() Odom formally joined the Clippers on Monday following a four-team trade last week, vowing to revitalize his career with a once-downtrodden franchise now on the verge of title contention. "It's an opportunity to redeem myself and an opportunity to come home, and you can't pass at that," said Odom, who will wear his old No. 7. "This city has been great to me, and I love being here. ... This is my home. I grew up in New York, and I'm a New Yorker to the heart, but I'm so grateful to be able to wear these colors and represent the town. I'm lucky." Los Angeles Daily News |

Chris Tomasson: Jerry Colangelo said Lamar Odom dropped out of Team USA today. He said Jeff Schwartz, Odom’s agent, called him today to tell him that. Twitter Chris Tomasson: Jerry Colangelo: "We will not be adding anybody (to replace Odom). We feel good with what we have.'' Twitter ![]() Arash Markazi: Lamar Odom tells ESPNLA he will skip Team USA this summer and work with trainers in L.A. and focus on this season. Twitter ESPNLA reports that Lamar Odom out of Olympic consideration. So only post players left are Tyson Chandler, Kevin Love and Blake Griffin, locks to make the team, and Anthony Davis. Will be interested to see if Davis could be kept despite his ankle injury as way of grooming a key guy for the 2014 World Cup. LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony will be your power forwards in London so perhaps this lack of bigs won't end up being a big deal. Sulia Talking with reporters after the game, Odom indicated he isn’t sure if he’ll join Team USA in Las Vegas in preparation for the Olympics. Odom said it may be best to spend time with the Clippers getting ready for October. He noted he’ll be judged by his play with the Clippers, not by how well he played in the Olympics. After a down year with the Dallas Mavericks, Odom wants to make sure he’s able to prove last season was an anomaly. HoopsWorld The Kardashians will not destroy the Los Angeles Clippers ... so says Chris Paul ... who's adamant Lamar Odom (and his family) will NOT be a distraction to the team next season. Chris was leaving Cecconi's restaurant in L.A. with his wife last night when we asked about the newest addition to the Clip Squad ... who was just acquired in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks. Before finalizing the 12-man Olympic roster by 7 p.m. EDT Saturday (4 p.m. in Las Vegas), Team USA will have practices on July 6 and 7 in Las Vegas. It also will have a special workout there July 5 with Blake Griffin, Lamar Odom, Anthony Davis. At least one of those three will make it, maybe two. There are 16 players vying for 12 spots. Free agent Deron Williams won't participate scrimmages because he's a free agent, but he's a lock. Unclear what free agent and non-lock Eric Gordon will do. Sulia |

But how can anyone be excited about this Los Angeles homecoming without knowing first why he fell so flat in Dallas? Or, as I put it to him for old time's sake: "Did you just wimp out on everybody in Dallas?" "No, no, no," he says. "I had some stuff going on that I don't think I was past." Los Angeles Times His next words are ones to be considered carefully by Lakers fans. If there's no trade to Dallas, he says, "I wouldn't have been surprised if I wasn't myself even if I was on the Lakers. "There was a part of me that just wasn't there, that wasn't responding to things that were around me. I wasn't the same person. I wasn't the same husband. I wasn't being myself." Los Angeles Times If it sounds sometimes as if he's delivering conflicting messages, welcome to Lamar's World as it turns. He's emotional, here and there and seemingly always dealing with something. It hasn't been a year since last summer when Odom learned his cousin had been shot. "I get to the hospital and I don't know what to expect," he says. "And we're very close, and then to see somebody like that, shot in the head and on a respirator fighting for his life. It affected me deeply." Los Angeles Times ![]() The Clippers filled one of their pressing needs to secure a talented big man when they acquired Lamar Odom from the Dallas Mavericks in a four-team trade that sent guard Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz on Friday. Los Angeles Times "I'm looking at this like it's a good fit to be going back to the Clippers," Odom said. "I think that the Clippers have some very good pieces. I like the wayChris [Paul] and Blake compete. I think basketball-wise, it'll be pretty easy for me to play with this team." Los Angeles Times The Clippers had some trepidation about acquiring Odom because of his poor play in Dallas. But their fears were allayed after Coach Vinny Del Negro and President Andy Roeser met with Odom on Thursday at the team's practice facility in Playa Vista. "I know all the questions will be about Dallas and will I be a good fit with the Clippers," Odom said. "But [last season] was hard for me after all I went through off the court last summer — the death of my cousin, the death of someone from a car accident I was involved in. For me, it was one too many things to deal with." Los Angeles Times |
