The Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets have restarted trade discussions, this time focused on guard Joe Johnson, league sources told Yahoo Sports. The Hornets and Nets are discussing a larger package that would likely include guards Lance Stephenson and Gerald Henderson and forward Marvin Williams, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Yahoo! The Nets remain a team in transition but it doesn’t appear they’ll make any major moves before the trade deadline. They were in serious discussions with the Hornets involving Lance Stephenson for Brook Lopez but talks broke off. Lopez has one year left on his contract, a player option for $15 million, and the Nets would be best served to trade him before the contract expires. He doesn’t appear to fit into Lionel Hollins’s system. Hollins likes physical, defensive-minded centers. Boston Globe

Hornets guard Lance Stephenson has heard all the trade rumors -- including one that recently fell through that would have sent him to his hometown of Brooklyn. But he says he's more concerned about working his way back from an injury than on whether he has a long-term future here. "You can't help but hear stuff," said Stephenson, 24, who signed a three-year, $27- million deal with Charlotte in the offseason after three years with the Indiana Pacers. "I just want to stay focused and stay positive and try to help this team. I'm here, and that's all that matters right now." Newsday

One league source says the three-way deal that was to send Brook Lopez to Oklahoma City and Lance Stephenson to Brooklyn was never that close. "They didn't want [Kendrick] Perkins or Lance," the source said of the Nets. That doesn't mean a deal still couldn't be rekindled with other parts and trade partners. One wrinkle is that the Nets are still in contention for a playoff spot, which has GM Billy King reluctant to simply hold a fire sale. If that changes in coming weeks, it's far more likely King wouldn't hold out for talent and would accept future assets instead. Bleacher Report

The Hornets made a bobblehead for Lance Stephenson, but Stephenson wasn't wowed by the result. If you're not convinced by the real Stephenson's face, his Instagram caption makes it clear: "This bubblehead do not look like me." He's right. Deadspin.com

As usual, Clifford sat Stephenson down for the game’s most crucial minutes – Stephenson didn’t play for the final 6:26 of regulation or any of the overtime. Stephenson said he wasn’t going to get “frustrated,” though, and would happily stay in Charlotte if no trade went through. Said Stephenson: “I want to be here. I feel I can definitely help this squad... It’s really not up to me.” Charlotte Observer

Stephenson was his usual entertaining self. He scored 13 points, turned the ball over three of the first four times he touched it and shouldered Roy Hibbert to the ground 30 feet from the basket on a play that looked like a hockey check and which no official saw. “I didn’t hit him that hard,” Stephenson said. “He flopped. You can’t knock down big Roy. C’mon now.” Charlotte Observer

Ohm Youngmisuk: Sources say Nets have decided they cannot move forward on any trade until there is more of a consensus in the organization... The whole Nets organization still isn’t convinced it wants to take the Lance gamble. And a trade with OKC doesn’t give Nets enough... for now. That said, Nets' trade talk has been so active recently that possibility remains that talks can resume at any point. And, as all this is going on, Nets franchise is gauging interest in potential buyers which makes you wonder about the future of franchise. Twitter @NotoriousOHM

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the Thunder, Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets are discussing a deal that would send Nets center Brook Lopez to the Thunder, Hornets guard Lance Stephenson to his hometown Nets and the Thunder's Jeremy Lamb and the Nets' Jarrett Jack to the Hornets. If the deal remains in its current form, the person told USA TODAY Sports that Thunder center Kendrick Perkins likely would go to the Nets as well. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of trade talks. USA Today Sports

The Charlotte Hornets are in serious discussions with the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder about a trade that could move Lance Stephenson to his native New York. Two NBA sources told the Observer Thursday night that the Hornets, Nets and Thunder have discussed a deal involving Stephenson, Brook Lopez and varying pierces off the Thunder’s roster. Charlotte Observer

David Aldridge: Re: proposed three-team trade talk reported by ESPN between Brooklyn, Charlotte & OKC (Brook Lopez to OKC, Jarrett Jack and Jeremy Lamb to Charlotte, Lance Stephenson to Nets): nothing imminent. Nets have many potential deals on the table and haven't made any decisions on which way they'll go. Twitter

Shams Charania: Lance Stephenson closely progressing toward being traded to Brooklyn, league source tells RealGM. Not done; strong belief he'll return home. Twitter
