About 90 minutes before tipoff Monday night at Madison Square Garden, Leon Rose met Knicks general manager Steve Mills on the court. The two men walked under the stands and disappeared. Thirty minutes later, Rose emerged and shook hands with Knicks executive Allan Houston. They strolled together through the tunnel leading toward the Knicks' locker room. These meetings involving the highest levels of the Knicks' brass and Carmelo Anthony's agent came after two straight excruciating losses. CBSSports.com

On Wednesday in Green Bay, Wis., Woodson said “respect” for J.R. Smith would be a factor in weighing whether to keep Chris Smith, who played just 20 minutes during the preseason. Also this week, Woodson indicated Tyler was a keeper, saying at one point he did not think the Knicks would “kick him to the curb.” Smith is expected to spend much of the season getting playing time in the D-League. When Tyler is healthy enough to return, the Knicks could choose to cut Chris Smith, whose $470,000 contract becomes guaranteed on opening night. When Smith hired his brother’s agent, CAA’s Leon Rose, in the spring, The Post reported the brothers’ free agency was seen in some league circles as a “package deal.” New York Post

Smith accepted the terms of a new four-year, $24.7 million contract yesterday, his agent Leon Rose told The Post. Smith, who would have accepted a significantly higher offer elsewhere, will make roughly $6 million per year, starting at the league’s average salary that a source said will be $5.75 million. It was the most the Knicks could offer under the early-Bird rights rules since Smith played only two seasons for the Knicks. And Smith got an opt-out after the third season to boot. New York Post

I figured that Leon Rose of Creative Artists Agency (CAA) was good for at least one of Kentucky’s talented underclassmen headed for the NBA. And I have heard from multiple sources that Rose has signed Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, who just finished an outstanding freshman season. businessinsider.com

I spoke to Mintz last night, and was blown away by the enthusiasm he displayed when discussing his new opportunity at CAA. “This is just an unbelievable opportunity for me,” said Mintz. “I couldn’t pass on it. It’s something that’s really exciting for me. I’m joining a great team. I couldn’t be more excited.” Mintz will remain in Los Angeles and work in CAA’s offices. Sports Agent Blog
