The Minnesota Timberwolves were close to a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers that would have sent Luke Ridnour to Portland for Jamal Crawford, but that seems to be completely off the table now that Ricky Rubio is out. There is still some logic to it, as Crawford can play the two, but the leadership that Ridnour brings is something the Timberwolves are reluctant to cash in. HoopsWorld |

![]() Reports that the Timberwolves are in talks with the Blazers regarding a Luke Ridnour-Jamal Crawford swap is bogus. While the eighth best team in the West definitely can use a starting scoring guard, Ridnour is going nowhere. New York Post |

![]() It's highly publicized that the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking for a shooting guard and the Portland Trail Blazers are looking for a point guard. Trail Blazers guard Jamal Crawford as one league source has told CSNNW.com, “the T-Wolves are definitely interested in his services” and the Trail Blazers have been contemplating adding Luke Ridnour. However, if you asked Timberwolves president of basketball operations, David Kahn, about a potential deal before the trade deadline, surprisingly he says he's willing to finish the season out with the trio of point guards he has on the roster and justifies it with the addition of J.J. Barea. “We're not looking to address anything this season,” Kahn told CSNNW.com. “I think that with this season, we've made a purposeful decision to add J.J. Barea. I just felt very strongly that just having Ricky (Rubio) and Luke by themselves, would be really hard to get through a season during this kind of a year. Adding J.J., we felt was a must. “Now how it plays itself out down the road, I don’t know. But at least this season, I have every expectation that this is the way the situation will be.” CSNNW.com CSNNW.com proceeded to ask Kahn if he was content with starting two point guards the rest of the year. “Yes, because both Luke and J.J. have demonstrated the ability both now and in their past, as being able to play off the ball as well,” Kahn said. “So, the fact that those two can play a lot of minutes at the two, has made the situation actually fairly easy for coach (Rick) Adelman.” Kahn says that if there is a deal to be made, it likely will not be a splash and that it's still early in the process. “There is eight days until the deadline and in the NBA, that's an eternity,” Kahn said. ![]() Alex (MN): Ive seen plenty of rumors about Jamal Crawford going to the Timberwolves. Is their any chance they can do so without giving up Pekovic or Derrick Williams? Chad Ford (1:25 PM): For sure. Crawford can opt out of his deal this summer so he won't cost much. I think the Blazers and Wolves are talking about a swap for Ridnour. ESPN.com |

![]() I also been told by league sources that the Ridnour trade is a backup plan for the Blazers, who are still hard after another point guard. That could be Nash, Rajon Rondo or Jose Calderon. CSNNW.com |

Soft-spoken and quiet, Luke Ridnour does his job with little fanfare. After sending the Timberwolves to a buzzer-beater victory heading into the All-Star break, he couldn't help but enjoy the moment, at least for a little bit. Ridnour hit a floater in the lane at the buzzer, capping Minnesota's comeback from 16 points down in the fourth quarter as the Timberwolves beat the Utah Jazz 100-98 on Wednesday night. Utah's Al Jefferson sank a jumper with Love in his face to tie the score at 98 with 7 seconds remaining. After a timeout, Ridnour took a pass from J.J. Barea, drove the lane, and sank a high-arching runner off of one leg over Jefferson as the buzzer sounded. "Luke knocks that down all the time," Wolves coach Rick Adelman said. "The floater, he knows he's got to get it off before he gets to the big guys. That was unbelievable, in traffic, getting around the guy and knocking it down. Couldn't be happier for him." ![]() The crowd is roaring at Target Center this season for the first time in recent memory. A new generation of Timberwolves fan serenades Ricky Rubio with chants of "Ole! Ole ole ole!" every time he threads a lob pass to a teammate at the rim. Kevin Love hears "MVP! MVP!" whenever he steps to the free throw line. Luke Ridnour's work, meanwhile, goes largely unnoticed in the shadows. Creating a turnover here while helping to the post, knocking down a jump shot there as the shot clock winds down. And that's just the way Ridnour likes it. "The best thing about me is I don't read anything or know anything that's going on," Ridnour said after scoring 25 points and dishing nine assists in a victory over Sacramento on Monday. "So I just come out and play." Minneapolis Star-Tribune |

The two combined for 34 points and 17 assists, but Ridnour stole the spotlight with his 25-point performance. He was perfect from beyond the three- point arc and shot 71.4 percent from the field, capping off what was his highest-scoring night since 2006. "He's just taking advantage of opportunities he has," Kevin Love said. "He's knocking down open shots. He's really taken the reins of the team." Fox Sports North |

Ridnour was given a personal and technical foul for his involvement. "Just normal woofing and shoving after a physical play," is how Kings coach Paul Westphal described the incident. "It just looked like stuff you see a million times in the NBA, from where I was." Sacramento Bee |

The Knicks would entertain a discussion that involved guard Luke Ridnour or a first-round pick, but not Sebastian Telfair. Newsday |

The Knicks would love to add a player like a Luke Ridnour if Minnesota was inclined to move him, but it's not easy to find a reliable, intelligent backup point guard for a reasonable price in this league. Stan Van Gundy has Jason Williams and Chris Duhon, two players who certainly would be able to handle the role. Williams' expiring $854,389 is certainly more attractive for the Knicks, but it looks like Williams has moved ahead of Duhon ($3.5M per over three years) on the depth chart. Duhon ran D'Antoni's system well, he just didn't have the ability to get to the rim or shoot it consistently. Newsday |

![]() At $12 million over the next three years, Ridnour won’t break the bank and his play-making abilities could be appealing to a team looking for point-guard depth. The Knicks, underwhelmed by Toney Douglas as Raymond Felton’s backup, are interested. CBSSports.com |
