![]() Perhaps 10 losses in their last 11 games are wearing on the Kings (4-11). "Can't do it that way," Kings guard Luther Head said. "You've got to pull people to the side and talk to them like a man, and they've got to be able to listen. They can't come back with a question." Asked if leadership was an issue with the Kings, Head responded in the affirmative. "Yes," Head said. "We need to find somebody everybody will listen to and stick to that." Sacramento Bee |

The Kings did not confirm that guard Luther Head and swingman J.R. Giddens have accepted invitations to training camp but a team source indicated both are expected to be a part of the training camp roster. Yahoo reported Head would come to camp with a non-guaranteed contract and that Giddens had been invited to camp. "We're going to end up with at least 19, maybe 20 (players in training camp,)" said Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie. "We're still waiting to hear on some other free agent players who are out there who are trying to decide." Sacramento Bee In July, Head reached a two-year, $2.5 million agreement with the Hornets. But before Head could sign the contract, the Hornets withdrew the offer, claiming the guard failed the physical on account of his surgically repaired ankle. Wojnarowski reports that this was a cover story for New Orleans. Woj reports that when GM Jeff Bower was fired after the verbal agreement on Head's contract but before pen met paper, Hornets president Hugh Weber decided he didn't want Head's deal on the cap for the next personnel boss. Failing Head on his physical was an easy cover story, so the guard's deal was canceled. Nothing happens in a vacuum, and sources tell Woj this greatly affected Head's ability to win a guaranteed contract from any team, leaving him heading to camp with the Kings.Head's agent Mark Bartelstein saw this coming back in July, then telling NBA.com's Art Garcia that his client wouldn't have had trouble passing any other team's physical. ![]() After a dubious failed physical that nullified an agreement with the New Orleans Hornets in mid-July, free agent guard Luther Head has agreed to a non-guaranteed deal with the Sacramento Kings, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. If Sacramento finds that Head’s ankle is healthy, he has a good chance to make the roster and play a reserve role for the Kings, sources say. Head is guaranteed $992,000 for the 2010-11 season, if he’s on the Kings roster on Dec. 1, one source says. And yet like the rest of the league, the Kings were unwilling to guarantee the deal because Hornets president Hugh Weber declared that Head had flunked his physical in July. Yahoo! Sports |

Milwaukee expected to be among the teams looking at Luther Head with him being a free agent again. Had looked at him before N.O. saga. Twitter ![]() Luther Head‘s agent Mark Bartelstein told NBA.com that they’re investigating legal options in response to New Orleans contending the guard didn’t pass a physical this week. The Hornets then rescinded a contract offer made to Head. “We’re going to look at the remedies we have because I know that Luther would have no problem passing a physical with any other team,” Bartelstein said today. “And it’s my responsibility to protect my client when I believe he’s been wronged.” NBA.com Adrian Wojnarowski: Just hung up the phone with agent Mark Bartelstein, who's irate over Hornets empty suit Hugh Weber reneging on a contract for Luther Head. ![]() The agent for Luther Head said Wednesday that his client is healthy and that the New Orleans Hornets have not offered a reasonable explanation for why they rescinded a two-year contract offer for the veteran guard. Mark Bartelstein said the Hornets informed him not long after general manager Jeff Bower had stepped down on Tuesday that Head, who played for the Indiana Pacers last season, had failed a physical. "That's absurd," Bartelstein said by phone Wednesday night. "There's nothing wrong with Luther Head. Nothing. They're doing tremendous damage to a player by putting out there that there's something physically wrong with him when there's nothing wrong with him. ... I spoke to the Pacers' medical staff this morning. They said he passed his end-of-the-season physical with flying colors and there should be absolutely no issues." ESPN.com |
