The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have recalled guard Nando De Colo and forward Malcolm Thomas from the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. Both players made their fourth appearance for the Toros this season on Sunday when they led Austin to a 96-93 home victory over the Tulsa 66ers. NBA.com

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have recalled guard Nando De Colo and forward Malcolm Thomas from the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League. The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have signed forward Malcolm Thomas. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not announced. Thomas, 6-9/225, most recently played for the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League. Through two games this season, Thomas was averaging a league-best 33.5 points and 15.5 rebounds. Sources told ESPN.com on Sunday night that Thomas will soon be joining San Antonio on a D-League callup from the L.A. D-Fenders after Boris Diaw's fine start to the season with the Spurs was interrupted this week by a rib contusion. Thomas, who played with Leonard at San Diego State, has been in San Antonio's program before, both as a full-fledged member of the Spurs and also with San Antonio's D-League affiliate in Austin. After averaging 11 points, 15 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in summer league, Malcolm Thomas won’t be retained by the Chicago Bulls into next season due to the franchise’s salary situation, a league source told RealGM. RealGM

Thomas had been confident about his future with the Bulls, and he has always intrigued the organization. The Bulls remain interested in bringing back Thomas at some point, a source said, but he is expected to draw interest from several NBA teams. RealGM

Malcolm Thomas signed a two-year contract with the Chicago Bulls on Monday for the rest of this season and guarantee dates that can push the deal through next season, a league source told RealGM. Since signing the first of two 10-day contracts on March 19, Thomas has played just over one minute for the Bulls and has impressed the coaching staff in practice. At 6-foot-9, Thomas has given the Bulls another body up front in a critical juncture of the season, with both Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson dealing with injuries. RealGM
