On May 20th, 2000, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Malik Sealy was leaving the birthday party of Kevin Garnett, who had just turned 24, when a drunk driver traveling on the wrong side of the road stuck Sealy’s SUV, killing Sealy at the age of 30. Though they only played one full season together, Garnett and Sealy were close friends — Garnett chose Sealy’s college number, #21, when he came into the league — and after Sealy’s death Garnett received a tattoo of Sealy’s name on his right arm. Garnett will now honor Sealy in Brooklyn by changing his jersey number from #5 to Sealy’s #2. For The Win
