The Cavaliers signed Manny Harris to a 10-day contract on Tuesday, bringing their roster back to a maximum 15 players. Harris has spent this season with the Cavs’ Development League affiliate in Canton, but was an NBA free agent eligible to sign with any team. He averaged 21.4 points and 7.9 rebounds and shot 47 percent from the floor with the Charge. After last season ended, coach Byron Scott told Harris he needed to improve his mid-range game. Scott never got to see if he made any progress because of a freak accident at Nike’s facilities during the lockout. Harris was unable to compete in training camp because of a severe burn on his foot and he was released. Akron Beacon Journal

The 22-year-old Harris is trying to get healthy to play for the NBA Development League’s Charge. And in his mind, it’s simply an evolutionary step in the life of a young player. A step back to where he ultimately will be. Harris was waived by the Cavs last week after a freak injury — freezer burn to his right foot — kept him out of training camp. “The first thing I thought was just, ‘Get healthy,’ ” Harris said about getting cut. “I’m confident that I’m going to be in the NBA at the end of the day. But you got to get healthy first, before anything.” Canton Repository

Manny Harris is back in wine and gold -- only now he's property of the Canton Charge. The shooting guard released last week by the Cavaliers has been added to the club's Development League roster. The parent team, however, no longer holds his exclusive rights and Harris could be signed by another NBA team. The 22-year-old missed the entire training camp due to a bizarre mishap at the Nike training facility in Oregon a month ago. He suffered a freezer burn on the outside of his right foot while in a cooling chamber designed to accelerate the recovery process from injuries and athletic workouts. Cleveland Plain Dealer
