According to Thomas, even Rasheed Wallace—he of the NBA-record technical-foul tally—has a slight desire to coach someday. Wallace, who has been injured and is usually unavailable in the locker room, couldn't be reached for comment. "These guys have all played a major role somewhere for some team," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said of his veterans, mentioning Thomas, Kidd, Wallace, Prigioni and Marcus Camby by name, although Camby doesn't sound interested in coaching. "We obviously did our homework [in acquiring the players], but they've been so much more than we ever expected." Wall Street Journal

Anthony, who insists his knee is pain-free now, has been adamant in saying he doesn't need surgery after the season. But longtime teammates Marcus Camby has noticed the difference in his explosiveness. "You could tell Mel wasn't himself," forward Marcus Camby said. "He's played nonstop the past year, between the NBA season, the Olympics and all that other stuff. So it's probably a bit of both: [the wear and tear] and the fact that he's evolved as a player. "Because of that, it's always nice to see him throw one down, just to remind people he can still do it." Wall Street Journal

Marcus Camby is walking around without a boot on his injured left foot and hopes to start running to 2-3 weeks. Camby has been out since Jan. 10 when he re-aggravated a previous foot injury. The Knicks announced the next day that Camby would be sidelined for 2-4 weeks with a plantar fascia injury in his left foot. ESPN.com

STAT concedes he has not undergone a magical transformation into the extra defensive juggernaut the Knicks need to compensate for the loss of Marcus Camby and Rasheed Wallace. However, he is feeling more comfortable in an offensive system which no longer singles him out as a primary focus. “It’s coming,” he stated. “It will just take more repetition, more experience, more practice. Offensively I’m definitely improving for sure and my main goal so far this season is to get better defensively so I’ll keep working on that. “The timing’s definitely coming back. I feel just as good as I was before I was out with the injury. As far as timing, as far as explosiveness, I feel healthy and that’s definitely a positive. I think the minutes gradually improving is helping that recovery.” ESPN.com

"He’s always had a good heart," said Marcus Camby, a teammate then and now. "It takes guys a few years, probably a few different teams and a few different scenarios to graduate on a maturity level, and J.R. in Denver was still young. "Sometimes he would be late to a lot of functions, practices — oversleeping. That just came from him being young. His talent was always there. He was a guy who could probably roll out of bed and put on a performance." Bergen Record

The Knicks announced on Friday that Camby will be out two to four weeks after an MRI of his injured left foot revealed plantar fasciitis, a condition that sidelined Camby for the preseason and has limited him to just 14 games. What’s more, Rasheed Wallace has been out four weeks with a stress fracture in his right foot and Amar’e Stoudemire, who missed the first two months following knee surgery, is being limited to 21 minutes a game.
