In a tweet sent on Oct 17, the NBA basketball star said that past links to hooliganism and slavery means England has no right to criticise Serbia fans for alleged racism. There were ugly scenes at the Under-21 international in Krusevac on Tuesday, where a mass confrontation broke out at the final whistle amid accusations of racism from the stands towards England left-back Danny Rose. The Chicago Bulls aren't going to be able to keep players like Fesenko or Jaric beyond camp because they're right at the hard cap. They can either make a trade to open up some space, but teams aren't exactly dealing right about now, or just waive & hope those players are willing to come back (Fesenko) after their salary prorates down enough so that hard cap is not broached. That would be Brazilian model Adriana Lima, who gave birth to the couple's second daughter last month. What's it like to be married to one of the most recognizable faces in fashion? "We are a very down-to-earth, normal family," Jaric said. "None of us try to draw attention to our family. We don't try to live the celebrity life. We really don't care. We're a very ordinary family." Chicago Tribune

Now, Jaric is ready to play in the U.S. again, partly due to the recent birth of his second child with wife Adriana Lima, a renowned supermodel. Jaric acknowledges that his famous spouse often overshadows his own career, but the 33-year-old (34 next week) isn't fazed by it in his fight to get back to basketball's top league. "All my life, I’ve had that and I’ve never cared too much about what people say because people are always going to find an excuse. My father was a basketball player when I was young. People said, ‘Oh, he’s there because his father played,’ but now it’s my wife. It’s always something. I never pay attention too much. Basketball is my life and it’s the most important thing in my mind right now," he told CSNChicago.com. "It was very tough because I played two half seasons in Europe before that and I didn’t want to go back to Europe anymore. I had a couple of very good offers and it was a big decision for, but I needed to put my family before anything else because of my second child. We couldn’t just travel anymore from Europe to the States and I needed to make tough decisions, and refused pretty good offers from Europe in hopes that a good NBA team picks me up. Hopefully this year, that happens." CSN Chicago

Several of them, including now Milwaukee Bucks forward Corey Maggette, Chris Kaman, Elton Brand and Marko Jaric, were taken aback by the news and decided to offer their assistance. "Kim was one of our coaches and he's a really good friend of mine, too," Maggette said. "He was in a situation where the Clippers' medical coverage wouldn't cover his surgery. I thought it was a great opportunity to help someone in need, to do something that Christ would do. "It shows your humanity, that you care for other people and not just yourself. Kim was in a life-and-death situation." Racine Journal-Times

The cancer had quickly spread and was on the brink of moving to other areas of his body. If Hughes had delayed the surgery, and if Maggette and his teammates hadn't provided the necessary financial assistance, Hughes doesn't know what would have occurred. Well, actually, he does. "Those guys saved my life," Hughes said. "They paid the whole medical bill. It was like $70,000 or more. It wasn't cheap. "It showed you what classy people they are. They didn't want me talking about it; they didn't want the recognition because they simply felt it was the right thing to do." Racine Journal-Times

Maggette said that was indeed the case, laughing how he has repeatedly told Hughes over the years it wasn't necessary. "Kim thanks me every time he sees me; he does that every single time," Maggette said smiling. "I've said to him, ‘Kim, come on. You don't have to do that. You're good.' "It just shows you what kind of person he is, to keep thanking me all the time for that. Like I said, it was just my time to serve another human being. "I think if anyone on my team is in that kind of situation, I would try to help him out if I could. That's just the person I am. I was raised that way." Racine Journal-Times
