Going into Saturday, Marquis had played in just 44 games, averaging 8.9 minutes. This has been a learning experience for the 20-year-old guard, something his brother predicted during the decision-making process before the draft. “I told him it was going to be rough his first year,” said Jeff. “It was rough my first year, getting picked by a playoff team, it’s never easy. But he’s been taking it well.” Boston Globe

Jeff believes his brother should have played his sophomore season at Kentucky. The elder Teague played two stellar seasons at Wake Forest, then averaged just 4.1 points through his first two seasons in Atlanta before posting a 12.6 average last year, his first as a starter. “I said, ‘Go back to school one more year,’ but he felt like he was ready, and I can’t tell him what to do,” said Jeff, “and I was going to be with him whatever decision he made. “But I thought he should have went back and had another year to hone his skills. He wanted to come out. He made a grown-man choice. “But I think he’s enjoying it. He just tries to stay focused and work hard every day. I told him that was the biggest thing — to make sure that they see you love the game.” Boston Globe

Marquis Teague: "I knew they liked me a lot. They had called my agent and things like that. But yeah, it kind of surprised me that I went there. I feel like I’m just going to come in, try to bring a lot of energy, pick up on defense full-court, just try to change the game as much as I can.” Courier-journal.com

Al Horford: "We have the 23rd pick and I know the team will draft the best player available. I would like to pick a shooter like Kentucky's Doron Lamb. But it wouldn't bother me if they picked a big who could help me like Festus Ezeli (Vanderbilt). Anyway, I doubt they will pick Jeff Teague's brother, Marquis Teague." Primera Hora

With the 2012 NBA Draft approaching, the Denver Nuggets evaluated six college prospects at Pepsi Center on Monday. Among the group was University of Colorado power forward Austin Dufault, a four-year starter who played in a school-record 136 games. It was Dufault’s first NBA workout. “It’s awesome (to be here in Denver),” Dufault said. “Over the last four years, I’ve turned into a Nuggets fan because they’ve been down the road (from Boulder). I’ve been to a couple of games and I’m familiar with their coaching staff. Just being able to come here and work out is a blessing and it’s an opportunity that I’m very thankful for.” Dufault was joined by Memphis guard Will Barton, Tennessee Tech guard Kevin Murphy, St. Bonaventure forward Andrew Nicholson, Kansas guard Tyshawn Taylor and Kentucky guard Marquis Teague. Vanderbilt marksman John Jenkins, Kentucky's Doron Lamb and Oregon State's Jared Cunningham are among the shooting guards receiving high marks from Griz personnel. Scouts also seem impressed by point guard prospects Marquis Teague of Kentucky and Tony Wroten of Washington. However, Griz brass entertained swingmen Draymond Green (Michigan State) and Jae Crowder (Marquette) on Saturday with great interest because of a desire to also add more versatile, high basketball IQ players to the roster.
