Mo Williams looked up from the dry erase board. On it he had plotted small black marks, designing a play that he believed would work within the offense that was thrust into the spotlight this week when former point guard Deron Williams said he preferred Utah’s system to Brooklyn’s. Mo Williams knew well the symptoms his predecessor described to New York media this week. He, too, once played in the Utah offense and then left it. "I could tell the difference," the Jazz point guard said, sitting courtside before Tuesday’s 104-94 win in Brooklyn. "Trust me." Salt Lake Tribune

Mo Williams remained in a walking boot Monday, as he missed his second consecutive game with a right foot injury he suffered in Friday’s 104-102 win over Sacramento. The Jazz point guard, as of Monday, had not resumed basketball activities, but said he targeted Wednesday’s game at New Orleans for his return. "It’s mostly the twisting and turning aspect of it," Williams said. Salt Lake Tribune

In short, the guy who dressed up as President Barack Obama for Halloween is considered by some to be the president of the Jazz locker room. “I’d have to go with Mo Williams for the president (of the locker room), because he talks a lot,” center Al Jefferson said Wednesday, the day after Obama was elected to a second term in office. “Vice president would probably be Paul (Millsap) because he doesn’t talk at all.” Standard-Examiner

Veterans Al Jefferson and Mo Williams are expected to play in the Jazz’s preseason opener Monday night at Golden State. Prior to Sunday’s practice, coach Tyrone Corbin said Jefferson and Williams were held out of Saturday’s public scrimmage as a precaution because they were "a little banged up." Salt Lake Tribune

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Williams wants to lead. He’s desperate for a title. He’s been overlooked, counted out and dumbed down his entire career. Suddenly, the Jazz belong to him. And during a hectic four-day period that’s seen him unexpectedly return to SLC, then have the reins of Utah’s offense tossed in his hands, Williams isn’t backing down. Instead, he’s owning up to and living in the moment. "I look forward to the challenge. I accept challenges. I’ve done it since I came in the NBA," Williams, 29, said. Salt Lake Tribune

Maurice Williams: I never had a bad taste in my mouth about the organization. I always respected them because they gave me a shot. I watched 30 teams pass on me in the first round in 2003. … I always had a part in my heart for the Jazz and I'm glad I'm able to come back and prove my worth to them. Salt Lake Tribune
