HoopsHype Melo League rumors
Carmelo Anthony’s Melo League crushed the Goodman League from Washington, DC, in an all-star charity game in Baltimore last week, but the Knicks star still suffered a big loss. Anthony’s two cellphones were stolen by an unidentified attendee after the competition. “Fans bum-rushed the court to get close to the guys after the game,” a source told Page Six. “Carmelo’s phones were stolen during all of the chaos.” New York Post
Suns forward Hakim Warrick is also playing general manager this summer, trying to organize a team of fellow Philadelphians to play Carmelo Anthony's Baltimore crew. Following the buzz of last week's game between Washington, D.C.-based Goodman League and Baltimore-based Melo League, Warrick tweeted, "I got my team ready to go #teamphilly . . . we got now we dont care who got next . . . lets make it happen." Goodman League commissioner Miles Rawls confirmed that he would take on Baltimore’s Melo League on Tuesday St. Frances Academy in Baltimore at 7 p.m. The contest is overloaded with star power – weighted heavily with the Melo League, which will trot out all-stars LeBron James, Chris Paul and Baltimore’s own, Carmelo Anthony. “LeBron is supposed to be in town for that one day. They told me it’s a go,” Rawls said of the Melo League organizers. Washington Post
Entering this game, the Melo League is the likely favorite and not just because they’ll have home court advantage at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. They have a star-studded group that is sure to attract plenty of attention. The Melo League will be represented by Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul, Josh Selby, Gary Neal and Donte Greene. The Goodman League will be represented by Kevin Durant, John Wall, Brandon Jennings, DeMarcus Cousins and Hugh “Baby Shaq” Jones. HoopsWorld
