Terrel Harris was doing something familiar after Saturday’s optional workout in the Philips Arena. He was talking to Mickell Gladness. The Heat will reunite the close friends on the roster Sunday, when Gladness officially signs a 10-day contract. Gladness, who was waived before the deadline to guarantee his 2011-12 contract, was not allowed to work with the other Heat players Saturday, since he is still technically a free agent. He will serve as insurance as the Heat enters a difficult stretch, albeit one against a bunch of teams that have lost key bigs (Atlanta’s Al Horford, Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut and now Cleveland’s Anderson Varejao). The Miami Heat announced on Tuesday afternoon that they had waived center Mickell Gladness. The move came in advance of the 6pm deadline for guaranteed roster spots. Gladness was one of three players to have non-guaranteed contracts, along with fellow rookie Terrel Harris and center Eddy Curry, both of whom the Heat are expected to hang on to.
