HoopsHype Mike Harris rumors
With another late-season injury, the Rockets will make another call to familiar fill-in Mike Harris, a person with knowledge of the decision said Monday. Harris, who had completed his season in China, had been considering offers to play for the Rockets' NBA Development League affiliate or in Puerto Rico when Rockets forward Chase Budinger sprained his left ankle Sunday against the Utah Jazz. He is expected to sign with the Rockets on Tuesday. Houston Chronicle
Unlike a lot of guys who are coming over to China via the NBA, Mike Harris has done this before. In 2007-08, he played for the Dongguan New Century Leopards before signing a 10-day contract in March with the Houston Rockets. Since that time, he’s had numerous call -ups from the D-League, mostly with Houston, to go alongside an NBDL MVP trophy that he was awarded last year. Now, according to Asia-Basket, Harris is coming back to the CBA, this time with the Shanghai Sharks. After being cut by Houston just prior to the regular season, it was reported that Harris had a contract all lined up with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls. Since then, however, Zhejiang has moved on, signing both Mike James and Josh Boone to deals and now Harris is a Shark. The Hoop
Last season’s NBA Development League MVP Mike Harris confirmed Wednesday that he has accepted an offer to play in China. Harris helped lead the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to the league championship last season. Harris was in the Houston Rockets training camp this season, but he was cut right before the season. Harris was mulling an offer to return to the Vipers but decided to go to China instead. The Vipers still have the rights to Harris and there’s a possibility he could return to the Valley after the season is finished in China. TheMonitor.com
Mike Harris, who was cut today by the Houston Rockets, has had an agreement with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in place as a contingency plan in case he didn’t make an NBA roster, according to a Zhejiang newspaper. Now, with his fate in America decided, the Golden Bulls are confident that Harris will come to play for them this upcoming season. NiuBBall.com
Mike Harris could be the teammate of Josh Boone in Zhejiang Chouzhou. The 27-year-old American forward is the first choice of the Chinese team for the next season. Harris, currently working out with the Rockets (where he already played with temporary contracts during the 2007-08 and the 2009-10 seasons), was the top scorer of the last D- League, averaging 27.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. thehoopsmarket.com
