The Atlanta Hawks have recalled forward/center Mike Muscala from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. He was assigned to Fort Wayne yesterday and in last night’s game against Austin, finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block in 32 minutes (7-12 FGs, 1-1 FTs). In three stints with the Mad Ants this season, he has averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 blocks in 28.8 minutes (.512 FG%, .857 FT%) in four contests. NBA.com

Let's talk about the All-Star hashtag skit. It was a tribute to the one Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake did, right? Kent Bazemore: Oh yeah, yeah, it was definitely a spinoff of that. The Hawks PR came up with the idea and myself and Mike Muscala did it. I hope they saw it, I hope they get to see it one day... And who came up with the nicknames? I loved 'Better Call Paul' Millsap and 'Machine Gun' Korver. KB: Thank you, man. Me and Mike spent a lot of time with the guys on the bench. The Hawks assigned center Mike Muscala to NBA Development League affiliate Fort Wayne Sunday. He will play for the Mad Ants when they host Austin at 5 p.m. This will be the third D-League assignment for Muscala as the Hawks continue to take advantage of the schedule to get their young players playing time. In his two previous assignments, Muscala played in three games and averaged 15.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1,0 assists and 1.0 blocks in 27.3 minutes. Atlanta Journal-Constitution

The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward/center Mike Muscala to a contract, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Danny Ferry. Prior to signing with the Hawks, Muscala had played the 2013-14 season with Blusens Monbus Obradoiro of the ACB League in Spain. The 6-foot-11, 230-pounder had averages of 14.6 points (seventh in the ACB) on .546 shooting, a league-leading 7.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 26.3 minutes per game through 20 games. He shot .871 from the free throw line and ranked sixth in the league (17.0) in Performance Index Rating, a Euroleague basketball statistic similar to the NBA’s PER. NBA.com

“We are really excited that Mike was available to join our team. We’ve closely monitored Mike and his progress throughout the ACB season. Coach Fernandez and his Obradoiro CAB club did an excellent job with his continued development,” Ferry said. “Due to our current injuries, Mike’s representatives presented the concept of Mike joining us for the remainder of the season. Mike Muscala is en route to the United States to sign with the Hawks. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed a report of the pending roster addition first reported by Sportando Tuesday that cited Muscala’s European agent Misko Raznatovic. The Hawks and Muscala needed to complete a buyout of the center’s contract with his Spanish team. Atlanta Journal-Constitution
