“I grew up watching the Timberwolves my entire life,” Mike Muscala said. “My dad has season tickets now — the last three years — and he sits right behind the bench so tells me everything he hears and sees … You never know about the future, but I wouldn’t mind playing with Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love.” Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Roseville center Mike Muscala (Bucknell) turned down the chance to participate in a group workout at Target Center next week. However, he'll be working out for the Wolves in June. Mbakwe, after stellar performances at the Combine and in New Jersey, has also declined to take part in the Minnesota workout. 1500 ESPN

Chad Ford: Muscala had one of the best workouts I've EVER seen for a big man. Literally missed just 2 shots entire workout. Crazy skills for big. Twitter @chadfordinsider

Then, we have a big man at Bucknell who's been opening eyes among NBA scouts in 6-11 senior center Mike Muscala. According to BU sports info director Jon Terry, scouts from the Clippers (at Cornell), the 76ers (at Bucknell) and several groups of others (at Loyola, MD and Missouri) have come to see Muscala in the past several weeks. Diligent work in the weight room has developed a body type not naturally muscular. And Muscala credits a 2-week stay last summer at the IMG Academy's NBA pre-draft camp for rising seniors as a factor in his stamina and strength this season: “I think I learned a lot about taking care of my body. And I got a chance to play with some guys who are in the NBA right now – Larry Sanders [Bucks], Kendall Marshall [Suns], Moe Harkless [Magic] – and some other guys who didn't get drafted. “Good competition, but also I learned about the importance of taking care of myself – what I eat, methods of recovery, things like that.” PennLive.com
