A growing trend in the league has been N.B.A. veterans, like Antoine Walker, Antonio Daniels and Mikki Moore, signing with the D- League in an effort to make their way back to the N.B.A. It is a situation akin to baseball’s Class AAA where there is a wide range in potential ages among the players. “Those guys are all N.B.A.-caliber players, so that improves the talent level of the league, but they also are coaches on the floor for the rookies and the young guys,” Reed said. “It doesn’t hurt that it attracts greater fan attention.” New York Times

The Golden State Warriors have signed free agent center Mikki Moore to a contract, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. Moore, a 12-year NBA veteran, is being called-up from the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League, where he has appeared in 33 games this season and averaged 11.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.06 blocks in 28.1 minutes per contest. He is shooting 55.4% (134-242 FG) from the field and has posted six double-doubles. This marks the 53rd GATORADE Call-Up of the 2011-12 NBA season. NBA.com

Both former NBA players will clear waivers on Thursday and join their new team for a weekend of play before being thrust in front of an audience featuring representatives from all 30 NBA teams next week in Reno. The NBA Development League continues to stockpile former NBA players as it creeps closer to next week's D-League Showcase in Reno, Nevada. The league added four assigned players on Tuesday and then went ahead and signed a pair of former NBA players for good measure. Veteran center Mikki Moore, who appeared in 23 games for Golden State last season before his release in January, has received interest from Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel and other teams overseas. But I'm told the 35-year-old remains hopeful of finding one more NBA job. ESPN.com
