Surveillance video from the Chop Shop Customs motorcycle store shows the final moments of Nancy Lopez-Ruiz's life as she boarded her Suzuki sport motorcycle and put on her helmet. Fort Lauderdale Police say the 22-year-old Plantation college student who had just won a coveted spot on the Miami Heat dance squad was killed by a drunk driver at 701 E. Sunrise Blvd. on Sept. 10, 2010. Palm Beach Post

In response to a public records request, the state attorney's office also released surveillance videos from the Galleria Mall that appear to show Mario Careaga and a friend shopping for jewelry while sipping beverages during the hour before the crash. Careaga, 43, a Fort Lauderdale insurance executive, had blood alcohol levels of .24 percent and .23 percent that were measured in two samples after the crash, according to probable cause affidavit. The state legal blood alcohol limit is .08 percent. Careaga was charged with DUI manslaughter and is free on bond, awaiting trial. Palm Beach Post

A Broward County judge on Tuesday rejected a DUI manslaughter defendant's request to leave the country for an upcoming business trip. Mario Careaga, 43, an executive at a Fort Lauderdale insurance brokerage, is free on a $10,000 bond while he awaits trial for the Sept. 2010 death of Miami Heat dancer Nancy Lopez-Ruiz. Prosecutors say Careaga was drunk when he drove his 2009 Mercedes-Benz sedan into the victim's 2003 Suzuki sport motorcycle on the 700 block of East Sunrise Boulevard. Lopez-Ruiz, 22, died at the scene. Palm Beach Post
