We tracked trade rumor mentions on HoopsHype (which we humbly consider the go-to place for these matters) in the last three years to find out which players appeared most often in the trade mill without actually getting moved. Kharpetian's assertion was not far off: Nets center Brook Lopez is No. 3 in mentions of trade rumors that didn't lead to a deal. After all the days, months and years of trying to block out what hurt his heart, Pau Gasol was the one bringing up all of the trade rumors now. "I'm re-energized. I'm in positions where I'm comfortable and effective, so I make a lot of plays," Gasol said of his wonderful new life as a Chicago Bull instead of a Los Angeles Laker. "And the fact that my name is not on the trade block like it has been for the past three years, that's a factor that's overlooked. "It's huge. It's huge not to have to think about that and have it in the back of your mind constantly. It's nice to have that type of security and comfort." Bleacher Report

The Bulls quickly moved on, working to finalize an agreement with Pau Gasol. League sources said a sign-and-trade acquisition has been discussed with the Lakers in order for the Bulls to land the All-Star center from Spain. Though the Lakers would have to nimbly execute several transactions that started with Friday's agreement to trade for the Rockets' Jeremy Lin, a league source indicated the Bulls have discussed sending Mike Dunleavy and the non-guaranteed contracts of Mike James, Lou Amundsen and Ronnie Brewer to the Lakers.
