On Monday, the Magic are expected to announce they have signed guards Seth Curry, Peyton Siva and Drew Crawford and big man Kadeem Batts. But although Curry, Siva, Crawford and Batts are going to be training-camp invitees, they will not compete for spots on Orlando's season-opening roster. The team's plan is to waive them and, if they clear waivers, assign them to the Magic's D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks. Orlando Sentinel

In an effort to fortify their new NBA Development League affiliate in Erie, Pa., and perhaps develop a player for the future, the Orlando Magic have agreed to terms with former Detroit Pistons point guard Peyton Siva. Siva will be signed to a non-guaranteed contract and participate in training camp and the preseason and then will be waived before the regular season starts, according to an industry source familiar with the situation. The Pistons are scrambling together their roster for the Orlando Pro Summer League, which begins next week. Peyton Siva will be there but with Dinwiddie recovering from Jan. 20 surgery to repair a torn left ACL, the Pistons will need a free-agent point guard, even though they just drafted a point guard. So let Gigi Datome take some of it. And Tony Mitchell. And Peyton Siva, who already has been playing increased minutes at point guard and saw extensive playing time in two wins before the debacle here. Jennings said it's time for more. "I think, at this point, it's important that we play the young guys," he said after missing his first 10 field-goal attempts. "Let the young guys get some time, let them see what it is to play 35 minutes a night in the NBA." Booth Newspapers

Minutes later, he followed with a photo of Siva, flashing the "L" and holding red shoes. But his shirt was blue, a piece of 2012 national championship gear from the season Siva's U of L team fell to UK in the Final Four. That was a year after Harrellson wrapped up his career with the Wildcats. Still, it's obvious both former players care quite a bit about their schools. "Yea I lost a bet," Siva said. "Gotta man up.. Always throwing my L's up." Louisville Courier-Journal

Dime: Montrezl Harrell and Russ Smith are both projected to go in the first round of the NBA Draft this year. What do you expect in the future from your two former teammates? Peyton Siva: I definitely think they’ll both make it. As per account of whoever I think they both have a legitimate shot to make it the NBA and have a great career. They are both great players and they’re proven winners. They are back-to-back champions in their conference and they both won a National Championship. I think they will have great careers wherever they end up, whatever round they end up going. Dime

Dime: If you were an NBA general manager, who would you pick in this year’s draft? Who is most NBA-ready? PS: The one guy most NBA ready: I got to go with my guy Russ Smith. I’m Louisville biased man, he’s my guy [laughs]. But also I like Jabari Parker. He’s a really solid player; he’s a really good player. Just watching a couple of their games, he’s kind of a do-it-all kind of player. Scorer, rebounder, I think he’s a real good talent. Dime
