Once more, the Londoner must prove himself. And wonder if, this time, it will be different, that he might stick around, that there might be a need for his raw athleticism and uncanny radar for an available rebound. “It’s a great opportunity but I’m not going to get too far ahead of myself,” Mensah-Bonsu told MVP. “I’m 27-year-old now and I’ve been at this stage before. I’m a bit older and wiser. But I have a chip on my shoulder and when I played for GB in the summer, it definitely helped that I was playing with a bit of anger. It made me focus in a little more and it made sure I brought the same intensity to every game. I just wanted to show the best of my abilities. I did that this summer. And I want to continue to do that.” MVP 24/7 |

Kurt Helin: Pops Mensah-Bonsu may not be playing overseas after all bit.ly/9xnbLM #PBT #NBA Twitter Tough to say for sure. All we know is that Mensah-Bonsu is suddenly unattached, and it's possible he could slip onto an NBA training camp roster. It's a fool's errand to sort through depth charts for a team in need of another big; Pops' skills and knack for hustling make him a nice, versatile candidate for end-of-the-bench minutes, even for teams already going three-deep at forward. However, it shouldn't be ruled out that Pops could find another overseas home with a different European club. After all, there's a reason why Mensah-Bonsu signed with Caja Laboral in the first place, even if he's an NBA-caliber talent. NBCSports.com Mark Deeks: Allegedly, Pops Mensah-Bonsu's contract was voided yesterday by Caja Laboral because of a long standing knee condition. Allegedly. Twitter Mark Deeks: It might be a fabrication or an exaggeration. He sure looked fine during Eurobasket qualifiers. Either way; does an NBA training camp await? Twitter |

Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng top scored with 28 points as Great Britain notched up their fourth straight EuroBasket qualifying win against Ukraine. Deng, who also claimed seven rebounds and provided four assists, played the key role in the 90-76 victory, while former NBA player Pops Mensah-Bonsu finished with 15 points. Five British players claimed double figure points hauls - Nate Reinking, Dan Clark and Ogo Adegboye all impressing. "It was really similar to all of our performances and were in an excellent position as we're unbeaten in four now," said coach Chris Finch. "But as I said to the guys it's important to keep it in context, we're winning the games in the last four minutes and there's not much margin for error. "I'm really proud of the guys, they're out there giving 100 per cent, playing a lot of minutes and making the big plays down the stretch. We dug deep, and the guys stepped up in the final minutes." Unicaja is considering several names offered to the Spanish club to replace Robert Archibald, in case the 30-year-old British center leaves the team. The Slovenian 30-year-old Primoz Brezec, who finished last season in the NBA for Milwaukee Bucks, and the 30-year-old Croatian center Mario Kasun, released from Efes Pilsen days ago, are among the candidates to join Unicaja next season. Other names in the list are Pops Mensah-Bonsu, who won't continue in CSKA Moscow, and Kris Lang, who played last season for Turk Telekom. The Hoops Market Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng is set to miss all of Great Britain’s friendlies ahead of next month’s Eurobasket qualifiers due to problems with insuring the Londoner against injury. Both Deng and former NBA forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu have yet to join up with Chris Finch’s squad at their Surrey training camp and neither will play in Wednesday’s international against Canada in Cobham.
