Yet while the monetary amount in Glass' case is far inferior to what Fleisher was awarded, Glass hopes that the fact that he reached a successful decision, as opposed to a settlement, can cause what he sees as necessary change. "They settled that (Fleisher) verdict, and Eric probably isn't allowed to speak out on it," Glass said. "That verdict probably never went to the union, because that's a private settlement from the union. But the union is not hiding from this decision. "Monetarily, it did not really amount to much. (Polloway) got paid, and we made a little bit on it. There were expenses or whatever, but I would do it again tomorrow. And if other agents are reading (this story), I will do it again tomorrow. The point is that at some point somebody has to stand up and say, 'Look, as a man, I'm not Pollyanna, I know what's going on, but if you can prove it -- which is hard -- then you go and do it.'" FanHouse.com And while the 40-page ruling that was obtained by FanHouse focuses mostly on how Miller orchestrated Douby's termination of Glass for his own benefit, a footnote on page 5 sheds light on the issue of side deals that so many agents say must be solved. According to the report, which was written by arbitrator George Nicolau, Ringel -- who coached Douby at Grady High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a father figure to him -- admitted taking $3,000 from agent Ken Glassman on behalf of Douby during his freshman season at Rutgers. Ringel, who claimed the money was spent by Glassman to keep Douby away from other agents, testified that he wasn't aware that such practices were prohibited under NCAA rules but said, as the report reads, that he "would have accepted the $3,000 even if he had known." That one example, numerous agents say, is merely the tip of an enormous iceberg that doesn't appear to be melting. FanHouse.com |

Alex Kennedy: As I touched on last week, Quincy Douby has now officially signed a one-year deal in China with the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. The deal is worth $1.4 million. Not too shabby for five months of basketball. He'll likely resume his NBA comeback attempt next summer. Twitter ![]() Quincy Douby will continue his career in China. The Xinjiang Flying Tigers have signed to a one-year contract the 26-year-old American guard, with Montenegrin passport. Douby arrives to the CBA after being the top scorer of the last TBL, averaging 23.6 points and 4.9 assists per game for Darussafaka. Xinjiang has also landed the former member of the Chinese national team Zhang Qingpeng, who posted 20.7 points and 4.0 assists per game last season for Liaoning Panpan Hunters. Another former NBA player, James Singleton, was also signed days ago by the Flying Tigers. thehoopsmarket.com |

As he looks for that NBA opportunity, several teams have shown significant interest in (Douby's) services. "Sacramento was in the mix but they're not interested anymore since they signed Pooh Jeter. My agent is talking to the Suns, Knicks, Cavaliers, and Bulls. We're trying to see what situation will be the best for me to just get on the team and give a contribution," he said. HoopsWorld After the Toronto Raptors waived him last season, Douby joined Darussafaka in Turkey and led the league in scoring by a wide margin. But now, he is expanding his game and becoming more of a facilitator in the hope that he can return to the NBA next season. "I'm just still working on my point guard skills," Douby told HOOPSWORLD. "I'm trying to be a point guard instead of a scorer out there. That's what I keep being labeled as, just a scorer, because that's what I did in college. But now I'm just focusing on getting others involved and being a leader out there." HoopsWorld "At the end of the day, the number one goal is to play in the NBA and be a contributor to a team. That's my goal. A lot of people play for the money, I don't. It was going to be a good situation where I wouldn't have to worry about money for a little bit but it wouldn't have felt right just giving up like that, you know? I just really feel that I'm prepared, especially at the one, and I know a lot more than I ever did before. I want to give it another try and I'm trying to get an opportunity on a team that can use me. I feel I can surprise a lot of coaches and a lot of people with what I've been working on," Douby said.
