While Miami’s search for a new men’s basketball coach continued Monday, center Reggie Johnson made news of his own. Johnson declared early for the NBA draft, but will not sign with an agent, leaving the door open for him to return as a junior in 2011-12. Underclassmen who declare early have until May 8 to remove their name to maintain college eligibility. “The chance to play in the NBA is something that has been in my mind for a long time – since I was really young,” Johnson said in a statement. “Now the chance has presented itself so I can see where I stand. If it doesn’t feel right, I know I still have the opportunity to return to play college basketball.” South Florida Sun-Sentinel
