Richard (Rip) Hamilton accomplished plenty in his playing days. And he officially retired Thursday, after 14 NBA seasons. "I think it's my time,'' Hamilton told the Free Press. "Everybody wants to play forever. I wish I could play until I'm 50 years old, but that's not the case. You can't beat Father Time. Father Time catches up with all of us.'' Detroit Free Press

Like most of his former teammates, Hamilton thought that the Pistons left a couple of championships on the table, especially in 2005, against the San Antonio Spurs. Detroit made six straight Eastern Conference finals during Hamilton's stay. "I think we should have won three or four,'' Hamilton said. "It just didn't happen. It was one of those things. To get one was great, but I thought we left a couple on the table." Detroit Free Press

Richard Hamilton: I want to give a major shout out to everyone who supported me through my NBA journey. To my coaches, teammates, and fans in Washington, Detroit, and Chicago: thank you for treating me with the utmost class and respect during my career. I couldn’t have been the player I am without you! Every stop taught me valuable lessons that I will remember for the rest of my life. Although this part of my path has come to a close, my basketball journey is far from over and I am looking forward to the road ahead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhhpDHp9od4 #Holdat #Cv4life #RetirementLife Instagram

Q: What are your future plans? Do you see yourself playing again in the NBA? Richard Hamilton: Yeah, yeah. I think for me, personally, I have to see how my body responds after the summer. I want to play another year and hopefully get an opportunity to play on a team with a chance to win a title. HoopsHype

Q: Which teams? Richard Hamilton: Oh! I can't tell you (laughs). I can't tell you that, but there are opportunities for me... but I'm waiting for the right situation. Like my agent told me, I'm in the situation where I can actually pick where I want to go. HoopsHype

NBA star Richard Hamilton has relisted his Maryland waterfront mansion for sale at an asking price of $3.99 million. The basketball player first decided to part with the property, dubbed "The White House," in 2010 when he listed it for an asking price of $4.5 million. Not receiving any positive response, he removed it from the market a few months later. Now, the property is back in the market and reports have it that the sports-star has received an offer for the house for $3.75 million, which is $245,000 less than the asking price. Realty Today

Billups is surprised that no one signed Hamilton, who was waived by the Bulls in the off-season. “I’m not sure what he’s going to do yet, but I am surprised,” Billups said this week. “I’m hoping that sometime soon somebody will pick him up. I worked out with him a lot this summer. He’s in great shape and looking like the Rip of old. He’s got his self healthy again, so I’m hoping. I know that he can really, really help somebody.” Detroit Free Press

Richard Hamilton never recovered after Chauncey Billups was traded away. At least not while in a Detroit Pistons uniform. “When you are young you are like, ‘Aw, man, how can this happen? We are winning so much,’ ” Hamilton said of his feeling at the time. “You take it a little personal. We both kind of did.” Hamilton and Billups were back in town Monday, on the same team for the first time since Billups was sent to Denver five years ago. The old Pistons’ backcourt lent their names to a charity golf outing at Country Club of Detroit to help the Autism Alliance of Michigan: Billups and Hamilton, together again. “Feels great,” said Hamilton, who admitted it took him a while to get over the sting of losing his point guard. “We still talk all the time.” Detroit Free Press
