Hamilton will be bought out for $1 million this summer and hopes to play two more seasons to reach 15 in his decorated career. "Even though the last two weeks have been hard, my teammates have been great," Hamilton said. "They were so supportive of me and dumbfounded by the situation. They kept me going." Chicago Tribune

Despite coach Tom Thibodeau's mantra that "we need everybody," Hamilton has dropped out of the rotation, with even Daequan Cook logging time ahead of him on the Bulls' depleted roster. "It's hard. I have to be honest," Hamilton told the Tribune. "The only thing I can do is be a good teammate, help my guys out. Try to talk and communicate with them as best as possible to understand time, score and situation. Just try to be as positive and give them advice from all the stuff that I know about the playoffs." The NBA on Saturday suspended Chicago Bulls guard Richard Hamilton one game without pay for "throwing an elbow and making contact with the face of Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan." Hamilton will miss Sunday's game against the Miami Heat. The incident occurred with 5:33 remaining in the third quarter of Toronto's 97-88 victory Friday. Referees called Hamilton for a flagrant foul two, and he was ejected. It was Chicago's second loss to Toronto in four days. USA Today Sports

After tiptoeing around the question last week, coach Tom Thibodeau on Monday didn't rule out that Richard Hamilton could be sidelined for the remainder of the season with his back injury. "There's an unknown," Thibodeau said. "It's a back, so those things are tricky. We'll just have to wait and see." Chicago Tribune

Chicago stood pat at the trade deadline, as expected, other than offering Rip Hamilton to no effect, according to league sources. The Bulls can tinker around the margins, as they did Saturday by signing veteran forward Lou Amundson to a 10-day contract. But they cannot go above the $74 million "apron" allowed to teams that exceed the $70.3 million tax threshold by $4 million or less. NBA.com

The best scenario might be the popular rumor of trading Richard Hamilton to Denver for 7-foot-1 Russian Timofey Movgoz. But it's tough to tell whether this has a chance of actually happening. Bulls fans haven't seen much of Movgoz, who averaged 5.4 points and 4.1 rebounds a year ago. Maybe he could turn out to be a low-cost, long-range backup center. But one reason the Nuggets are shopping him is his impending restricted free agency. There's no telling what it might cost to keep him. Arlington Heights Daily Herald

Richard Hamilton turns 35 next month, a time when reflection becomes reality for professional athletes. "You do start to think about how long you're going to play because you're not at the beginning of your career. You're toward the end," Hamilton said in a quiet moment late Wednesday. "I don't see myself playing any longer than when I'm 38. That will be my max by far." Chicago Tribune
