Former Chicago Bulls player Rick Brunson has pleaded not guilty to sexual abuse charges. The News Sun in Waukegan reports that the 42-year-old from Vernon Hills entered the plea Thursday in Lake County Circuit Court. He faces charges of sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, domestic battery and battery in connection with an alleged encounter with an employee at a suburban Chicago fitness center. ESPN.com

Former Chicago Bull Rick Brunson has been indicted on charges of attempted criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse, aggravated battery and domestic battery stemming from his arrest last month following an encounter with a massage therapist at a Vernon Hills fitness center. Brunson pled not guilty to all the charges in a Lake County courtroom this morning. Authorities say Brunson used the name of retired NBA star Patrick Ewing to book an appointment in April with the massage therapist who had previously notified Brunson that she would no longer provide him with massages. After a masseuse told Rick Brunson to stop requesting her services, the former Chicago Bulls player and coach used the name “Patrick Ewing” to book another appointment, according to the police report obtained Tuesday. A confrontation during that appointment resulted in a series of sex-based criminal charges against Brunson, who is accused of touching the masseuse inappropriately, police said. Chicago Sun-Times

According to the police reports, he booked the April 2 appointment under the name “Patrick Ewing,” a former star with the New York Knicks, and took the woman by surprise when he arrived and removed his clothes. The woman told police she initially protested at giving him a massage but agreed to begin a standard 60-minute session because he had already undressed and used one of her appointment slots. Police say Brunson touched the masseuse, but specifics were not released. The woman’s bra was collected for possible DNA evidence. Chicago Sun-Times

Former NBA player Rick Brunson has been charged with sexual assault in connection with an alleged encounter with an employee of a suburban Chicago fitness center. Vernon Hills police say the 42-year-old Brunson was charged June 25 with attempted criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse and aggravated battery. The charges were filed after Brunson allegedly grabbed an employee of Lifetime Fitness. His bond was set at $5,000. However, a court date hasn't been announced. USA Today Sports

Now all indications are it's about to become a reality. Sources have confirmed reports that former Temple point guard Rick Brunson is expected to soon join coach Fran Dunphy's staff on North Broad Street. Dunphy wouldn't comment when reached yesterday. Neither would Brunson. People familiar with the situation would only say "it's a process." One said it could happen as soon as late next week. Philadelphia Inquirer
