Admittedly, the playoffs are a long shot for the team and it would probably be the second round before Beaubois would be able to get back into action. As for his long-term future, the free-agent-to-be said he is not thinking about the summer. “Right now, I don’t think about it,” he said. “Even though I cannot play right now, I still really want us to make the playoffs. So I’m going to be around the guys and do everything I can to help them make the playoffs. And when the season is over, then I’ll think about the summer.” Dallas Morning News

Roddy Beaubois had a minor achievement Sunday afternoon. He got his shirt and suit on with only one hand. “It was tough,” he said. “I needed maybe one hour, but I did it.” Beaubois’ left hand is wrapped in a big, protective claw-like bandage after surgery on his hand near his second finger. He had a screw put in and will need four-to-six weeks to recover. But the future remains bright for the oft-injured guard. “It’s tough, but there’s nothing you can do about it,” he said. “When it happens, you just need to make sure you do everything you can to fix it. That’s what we did. I had surgery on it. I just need to take care of it and get back as quick as I can. Besides that, I can’t do a thing about it. Dallas Morning News

Backup guard Roddy Beaubois could be done for the season after suffering a broken bone in his hand during the first half against the Thunder. The fourth-year player suffered a broken second metacarpal on his left hand. “I don’t know what to say,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “I feel very bad for him. He had been putting the work in and obviously was playing well and this was a game where we needed him. He’s had some bad luck with injuries. “I just hope he can get back, but I don’t know if he’s going to be able to this year or not.” Dallas Morning News

”I feel bad for the kid,” said Dirk Nowitzki. “It’s sad. So many injuries. He’s been here for four years and he’s missed a lot of action. He broke his foot twice, dislocated numerous fingers and finally breaks his hand. It’s tough. We feel bad for him. But he’s a good kid. Dallas Morning News

Have you already got in mind who you want back here next year? Rick Carlisle: I've got an idea, but there's a lot to be determined. For example, Beaubois has been in and out of this year. But he's had some good days in practice recently, in shootaround he was real energetic this morning. I take not of that, and if there's an opportunity to play him in an upcoming game in some meaningful minutes, I'm not going to hesitate. He's showing me that he's ready. There have been other guys who have done that too. Brandan Wright got back into it with that sort or daily approach. Dallas Morning News
