The Suns also asked to interview Milwaukee Assistant GM Jeff Weltman, and Los Angeles Lakers Assistant GM Ronnie Lester but the Lakers denied permission. Fanhouse.com reported the Suns also interviewed Denver VP of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien. Sarver declined to talk about the GM job other than to say he has six to 10 candidates. Yahoo.com quoted a GM saying, "I think Sarver wants to play Jerry Jones," the Dallas Cowboys owner. "I just want to win games," Sarver said. "In terms of doing the GM-type jobs, we sent an e-mail to all GMs in the league that their contact with us was Alvin Gentry and (Executive Vice President of Finance/Administration) Jim Pitman.
