Rory White made no secret of the fact that he would spend the offseason trying to land another NBA coaching job. When that didn't happen, White decided to return for a second season as head coach as the Dakota Wizards. For White, who agreed to a one-year deal on Tuesday, trying to use the D-League to advance his career is a case of practicing what he preaches. "It's like I always tell the players, ‘Out of sight, out of mind.' If I want to get back to the NBA, I've got to continue to coach and continue to improve my skills," White said. "If I'm just sitting at home waiting for somebody to call me, that's not going to happen." Bismarck Tribune

White said his contact with Washington was less extensive, but still positive. "I got to talk to Sam Cassell, who coached their Summer League team, and he'll keep me in the loop," he said. "Once they start getting geared up in September, I'm sure I'll get in touch with (head coach) Flip Saunders." Bismarck Tribune
