Besides the independent judge's decision, Euroleague Basketball has decided to ban for life the access or participation of the aggressors, the brothers Nauris and Normunds Macius, in any event directly organized by the company, including Turkish Airlines Euroleague and Eurocup games. Euroleague Basketball will work together with international basketball stakeholders to study a system for communicating and enforcing bans in other competitions. In parallel, it will recommend that the aggressors are banned from all basketball events, including club and national-team games. Upon returning to Madrid on Friday, Rudy Fernandez made the following statements: “I am fine. Thank God things did not go further. I have to say thanks for the support of everyone that has contacted me through social networks and private messages. I am not enjoying this; people have to know that basketball cannot get dirty this way. Things like this don’t have to happen again. I think that people should not think that all Lithuanian fans are like that just because of these two people. Not at all. In the game, as always in all games, there was some tension, but I was respected at all times, which is the most important thing. This happened because of these two and that’s the image I keep. Something worse could have happened; I hope it never happens again. I hope [the media] respect me a bit because I am struggling, but I would like to thank those who have supported me and will carry on supporting me.” TrendBasket Niki Bakouli: Rudy: "This should never happen again" realmadrid.com/cs/Satellite/e… Twitter @Eurohoopsnet This picture was taken earlier on today as the two men that reportedly punched Real Madrid's Rudy Fernandez were released from prison and headed straight to the bar for a beer. Rudy Fernandez: "Pau has proved he's one of the best big men in the world and if you pass the ball to him in the paint, he's going to do something good for sure, but D'Antoni doesn't understand it and he forces him to go outside and shoot from distance. There is still the possibility that Fernandez, a passionate music fan who has dreams of becoming a DJ, will have another go at cracking the NBA -- if his body can withstand the strain. "Who knows in two years, three years, I could back to the NBA if I start to feel better about my back." CNN.com |

That ease of mind feels like the product of a man who has done his homework. Claver carefully weighed his decision to come to the NBA from overseas after a lengthy courting process by Blazers management. In July, he decided the timing was right, signing a 3-year contract worth a reported $4 million. Part of his due diligence involved talks with Fernandez, who went from hero to goat during three seasons in the Rose City. "What he explained to me about Portland was that everything was good," Claver told Blazersedge. "He liked Portland. He enjoyed the people and the fans. The team. Maybe it wasn't what he expected before he came. At the end, he wasn't as comfortable as he thought." Blazers Edge |

![]() How was your relationship with Rudy (Fernandez)? McMillan: A coach-player relationship. I know I'm the bad guy in Spain. Look, for Rudy to come to Portland was a great challenge. A star in Spain goes to the United States and he's on the bench behind an All-Star like Brandon Roy. It was very difficult to give him the opportunity or to put him in the situation he wanted. He's a very good player but the needs minutes. He can't play 10 or 15. He's not a microwave ... I think he didn't like the NBA game and he didn't feel comfortable." El Correo Gallego McMillan: They [Sergio Rodriguez and Rudy] wanted more, although I don't think it's all my fault. Rudy had the chance to go to Dallas and become a starter. It surprises me that he didn't wanted to go there. El Correo Gallego |

What was your opinion on the officiating at the 2008 final vs. Team USA? Rudy Fernandez: Well, that's water under the bridge. It's true that there were some missed traveling calls but that's in the past. We have to focus on the London games and hope the games are called with FIBA rules and not NBA rules. HoopsHype |
