"That was strong. I feel like he got stronger than last year," Jazz center Rudy Gobert said. "He’s going to need it, because people are waiting for him this year." Gobert, known to be feisty himself, smiled when asked about the Hayward staredown. "First time I see emotions from Gordon," the French center said. Deseret News

Gone is the gangly youngster. In his place is a sometimes snarling shot-blocker, a serious deterrent to guards and forwards with the audacity to drive into the paint. Will the Jazz benefit from their young center’s seeming improvement? Gobert certainly thinks so. "I feel way more confident than I did last season," he said. "I feel like I can help my team win. I feel like I can make a defensive impact, and help the team maintain. I was motivated to play in the World Cup. We had a good run and we finished high. I’m proud of what we accomplished." Jazz rookie Rudy Gobert was supposed to bring donuts Monday’s shoot around. He forgot…so his veteran teammates filled his car completely with popcorn. Ah, the joys of being a rookie. John Lucas uploaded a video to Instagram after the prank saying, “When you don’t do your rookie duties, this is what happens to you,” to which Gobert jokingly commented “F*** ya’ll.” beyondthebuzzer.com

The biggest NBA prospect in the country has been developing in relative obscurity with the UC Irvine Anteaters, but if Mamadou Ndiaye continues to play like he did in Thursday's upset win over the Washington Huskies, he'll soon be a household name. At 7-foot-6, the freshman from Senegal is believed to be the tallest player currently active in the U.S. He dwarfs Rudy Gobert, the Utah Jazz rookie who was drafted in the first round largely on the strength of his size. Gobert, who is listed at 7-2, recorded a record 7-8.5 wingspan at last spring's NBA Draft Combine. Ndiaye blows that away -- his wingspan was measured at an incredible 8-1 at the 2012 Amar'e Stoudemire Skills Academy. ESPN.com
