Based on this data, it appears as though Rudy Gobert and Andrew Bogut both have a good case to be selected as the defensive specialist for the Western Conference All-Star team this season. Gobert has the highest block percentage, holds opponents to the lowest field goal percentage at the rim and helps Utah’s defensive rating by a healthy 6.9 points while on the court. Bogut’s numbers are similarly good, but behind Gobert’s in most relevant categories. Basketball Insiders

Center Rudy Gobert hadn’t talked to Kanter about his decision to seek a trade, but he knew his Turkish teammate had complaints about his role and playing time. “I knew he was frustrated about playing time,” said Gobert, who’s had his own issues about the minutes he’s been given early in his career. “But we didn’t really talk about it.” Deseret News

There was a point in Tuesday’s game at New Orleans when Rudy Gobert and Enes Kanter were yapping at each other while walking off the court for a timeout. Quin Snyder met them at midcourt and had a quick chat, while team captain Gordon Hayward huddled with his two teammates from behind. The Jazz coach wasn’t trying to put out a team fire. Deseret News

Snyder absolutely loved what was going on between the two players, even if it seemed that they were bickering. “That was great. I was so glad to see them. I don’t care if they yell at each other. I like the communication,” Snyder said. “Once you start talking to each other like that, now you’ve got a chance to grow and to stretch. It’s when they don’t say anything that I get concerned.” Deseret News

"That was strong. I feel like he got stronger than last year," Jazz center Rudy Gobert said. "He’s going to need it, because people are waiting for him this year." Gobert, known to be feisty himself, smiled when asked about the Hayward staredown. "First time I see emotions from Gordon," the French center said. Deseret News

Gone is the gangly youngster. In his place is a sometimes snarling shot-blocker, a serious deterrent to guards and forwards with the audacity to drive into the paint. Will the Jazz benefit from their young center’s seeming improvement? Gobert certainly thinks so. "I feel way more confident than I did last season," he said. "I feel like I can help my team win. I feel like I can make a defensive impact, and help the team maintain. I was motivated to play in the World Cup. We had a good run and we finished high. I’m proud of what we accomplished."
