Iman Shumpert: Friday night, I headed out to Bridgeport, Conn., to play in another charity game for us locked-out players. The people who came out — maybe 2,000 — provided us plenty energy with cheers and competitive boos. I decided to sit out the last part of the game after going up for a dunk and feeling an awkward pain in my knee. I could have kept playing, but decided just to ice it to ensure I was OK. Nothing major. I think it was due to not warming up at half because I was hanging out with fans and doing photos and autographs, which is partly why we were there. Some of the many participants were Tyreke Evans, Sam Young, Josh Selby, Wes Mathews, Nolan Smith, Howard Thomkins and Travis Leslie. My team won, 171-169. The best part for me was getting a chance to connect with more Knicks fans praying for a season! It was a great turnout. New York Post |

But apparently, the battle for bragging rights was enough to convince Gay that he would participate in the next show to determine which coast has the best players. After weeks of wrangling and tense negotiations, the Goodman League-Drew League rematch will finally take place on Sunday at Long Beach State University and Goodman League commissioner Miles Rawls confirmed that Gay would join forces with Durant, Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Michael Beasley, Sam Young and Donte Greene. Gay, Durant and Wall are also expected to participate in another exhibition game hosted by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on Saturday at Florida International University in Miami, but Rawls said all three would complete the difficult back-to-back set. They will meet a fired-up Drew League team eager for revenge and featuring Harden, Jennings, Nick Young, Derrick Williams, DeMar Derozan, Dorell Wright, Craig Smith, Marcus Banks and Ryan Hollins. Sam Young, the Grizzlies' most productive bench player last season, picked up his third "DNP Coach's Decision" in the past five games. He also didn't play last Saturday in a loss to the Boston Celtics. Young said he's baffled by his absence in the rotation. "I had a great summer. I had a great preseason. I thought I would come in and help the team," Young said. "It's beyond my control. I'm just working so that I can stay ready when my number is called." Memphis Commercial Appeal |
