A lot of talk in recent days about Sasha Kaun perhaps joining the Cavs next season. If it happens, he’s likely only a fourth or fifth big and right now that seems like a long way from happening. The Cavs haven’t really held any discussions about Kaun since obtaining Timofey Mozgov. CSKA Moscow's center Alexander Kaun (27 years, 211 cm) will stay in red-blue until the end of 2014-15 season. Kaun turned to red-blue just after his championship season with Kansas University. From that point he played in Euroleague Final Fours three times, won 4 Russian League titles, 2 VTB United League titles and Russian Cup. He will be a member of the team for the next three season, something that also apply to Sasha Kaun. His deal is not announced yet, but Russian sources confirmed to Eurohoops.net that the former University of Kansas player and NCAA champion has also signed a new three years contract. As for the official announcement, is just a matter of days, or even hours. CSKA Moscow center Sasha Kaun, whose NBA rights are owned by the Cavs, had successful knee surgery performed by Dr. Richard Parker at the Cleveland Clinic last week and will be out for three months, Cavs General Manager Chris Grant confirmed on Tuesday. Kaun, 25, has not played in the Euroleague this season, though he did take part in the team's Euroleague American tour, including a brief appearance at The Q. Cavs 2008 second-round pick Sasha Kaun is not expected to sign a contract with the team for next season, sources said. Kaun, a 7-footer from Kansas, had a breakout season for CSKA Moscow last season. He averaged 9.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in Euroleague games and 12.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in Russian League games. Had he signed, he likely would have been a rotation player next season.
