Steve Luhm: Muhammad still believes he is a top-10 prospect. He certainly has the size and body-type to be an NBA shooting guard. Impressive. Twitter @sluhm

As the draft approaches, Muhammad, who indeed played only one season at UCLA, is no longer looked at as the potential No. 1 pick as he was before the start of the season. Kentucky's Nerlens Noel, Kansas' Ben McLemore, UNLV's Anthony Bennett, Indiana's Victor Oladipo and Georgetown's Otto Porter have emerged as more viable contenders for the top selection, and with good reason. They were the best in college basketball and have the potential to be great in the NBA. "I want to go as high as I can. Everyone wants to go as high as you can, but the best fit is perfect," Muhammad says. "If you get the best fit, it doesn't really matter if you go high. You can look at the guys who have gone No. 3, some go No. 10 that get a great fit and translate right away and make a big impact right away." USA Today Sports

When teams ask him about these issues, Muhammad says that he faces them head on and doesn’t shy away from the scrutiny. “I like telling them,” Muhammad said. ”I like explaining. I didn’t do anything wrong. I mean like I said, that was in the past with some people that were handling my basketball (career). It’s just all me (now). I’m all into myself. I work with myself. I represent myself now.” Cowbell Kingdom
