Marion reiterated his feelings in a radio interview with KRLD-FM 105.3. “It was tough,” said Marion. “It was up in the air. I was contemplating a lot of different things, but I felt like I really wanted to pursue another championship and I felt like this is the best way for me to do that.” But there was another factor, Marion told KRLD-FM ... his recently born son, Shawn David Marion, who lives in Chicago. “It wasn’t about the money," Marion said. "I got offered more money from different teams. It’s with just a matter of what I’m comfortable with. And also, from Cleveland to Chicago is not that far. It’s driveable and a quick flight.” Dallas Morning News

On Shawn Marion signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers for a minimum deal: “It’s different when you’re going back to your same team as supposed to going to a new team. I think there’s a different dynamic and different expectation. I have a great relationship with Shawn. We’ve kept in touch. We messaged yesterday. He just thought that he wanted to go to somebody that he thought, and this was all prior to signing Chandler [Parsons] and everything, that he thought was closer to a ring particularly in the Eastern Conference. He decided to go that route and we wish him nothing but the best. Trix is a champion in our eyes and always will be.” Dallas Morning News

The Indiana Pacers have jumped into the race for Shawn Marion's signature -- competing with LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers -- by hosting Marion on a visit to Indianapolis, ESPN.com has learned. Marion met face-to-face with Pacers president Larry Bird Monday, according to sources close to the situation, after Bird urged the free-agent defensive specialist and former All-Star to come to town to consider signing with Indiana in the wake of the devastating compound leg fracture suffered by Pacers star Paul George.
