Ex-NBA player Shawne Williams has pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance following his December arrest ... when cops busted him for smoking a blunt inside his Porsche. As TMZ previously reported ... Williams was popped in a parking lot in Tennessee after a cop said he smelled weed coming from inside Williams' Panamera. Williams reportedly confessed to the officer that he had weed and codeine (cough syrup) in his car. Following the arrest, Williams was charged with possession of a controlled substance (for the weed) and possession with intent to sell (for the codeine). TMZ.com

Former Memphis Tigers basketball star and NBA player Shawne Williams was arrested Thursday in Raleigh after police reported finding marijuana and codeine cough syrup in his car. An officer was on routine patrol outside a Cricket wireless store in the 3400 block of Austin Peay near the Raleigh Springs Mall. The officer approached Williams in his nearby Porsche Panamera after smelling marijuana, according to a police affidavit, and the 26-year-old Williams was asked to exit his vehicle. Shawne Williams, a first-round NBA draft pick in 2006, has been arrested on drug charges after an officer patrolling a mall smelled marijuana coming from a car in the parking lot. The officer asked Williams to get out of the Porsche on Thursday night. Redd has a connection with Ernie Grunfeld since Grunfeld drafted Redd, a former all-star and Olympic gold medallist, for Milwaukee in 2000. With the Knicks’ impending loss of Landry Fields, their interest has shifted toward veteran forward Rashard Lewis and possibly ex-Knick Shawne Williams, working on a buyout with Portland. CSNNW.com has learned that Portland Trail Blazers forward Shawne Williams has turned in his papers and has officially exercised his player option on June 22, according to general manager Neil Olshey. By doing so, Williams is scheduled to make $3.1 million next season. Williams can still be released and his salary would be spread out for three years. He signed a two-year, $6.1 million deal with the Nets last December. CSNNW.com

Williams did not play for the Trail Blazers this season. He was rehabbing after having surgery on his left foot in late February. Three screws were inserted into his foot to repair a prior fracture and two fragments of the bone were taken out. Walters said Williams will be one hundred percent sometime this summer. CSNNW.com

Portland Trail Blazers' forward Shawne Williams made his first appearance in the locker room before the team faced off against the Dallas Mavericks tonight. Williams has a player option for next year that pays him $3.1 million and he tells CSNNW.com he will opt in. “It's all on me.
