CSNNW.com has learned that Portland Trail Blazers forward Shawne Williams has turned in his papers and has officially exercised his player option on June 22, according to general manager Neil Olshey. By doing so, Williams is scheduled to make $3.1 million next season. Williams can still be released and his salary would be spread out for three years. He signed a two-year, $6.1 million deal with the Nets last December. CSNNW.com

Williams did not play for the Trail Blazers this season. He was rehabbing after having surgery on his left foot in late February. Three screws were inserted into his foot to repair a prior fracture and two fragments of the bone were taken out. Walters said Williams will be one hundred percent sometime this summer. CSNNW.com

New Jersey is engaged in serious discussions with the Portland Trail Blazers on a deal to bring Gerald Wallace to the Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the talks. The deal as currently constituted, sources say, would send the expiring contract of Nets forward Mehmet Okur and either Shawne Williams or Johan Petro -- along with a protected future first-round pick -- to the Blazers for Wallace.
