In case you've forgotten, there is a forward on the Portland Trail Blazers roster named Shawne Williams who was acquired at the trade deadline from the New Jersey Nets in the Gerald Wallace deal, and his agent says they will not accept a buyout from the Trail Blazers. “We talked about the possibility of a buyout, but we decided it just wouldn't make sense for us,” Williams' agent Happy Walters told CSNNW.com. “Shawne is continuing to rehab right now and he's excited to be a Blazer.” CSNNW.com

New Jersey is engaged in serious discussions with the Portland Trail Blazers on a deal to bring Gerald Wallace to the Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the talks. The deal as currently constituted, sources say, would send the expiring contract of Nets forward Mehmet Okur and either Shawne Williams or Johan Petro -- along with a protected future first-round pick -- to the Blazers for Wallace. The Nets got good news about one of their injured small forwards yesterday, and bad news about the other. Shawne Williams went through vigorous workouts yesterday and is expected to return to the lineup for tonight’s game against the Bobcats after missing the last four games with shin splints. But the Nets have lost Damion James indefinitely, and he will undergo surgery on his right foot Tuesday to replace the screw he had inserted last year to help repair a fractured fifth metatarsal in the foot. “It’s disappointing,” coach Avery Johnson said before last night’s 84-74 loss to the Thunder. “Here’s a kid we drafted last year, we had him inked in as his starting three man and in the Eastern Conference … Hopefully the surgery will go well, and for us and him and his career, hopefully we can get this corrected and he won’t have a problem anymore.” New York Post
