But sources with knowledge of the Magic's approach say they're remaining patient and that all the familiar teams -- Houston, Atlanta, the Lakers, and the Nets among them -- remain in play. That doesn't bode well for the Nets, whose reliance on numerous free agents in their proposal is complicated by the end of the league's free agency moratorium at 12:01 Eastern Time Wednesday. While Humphries has the same agent as Howard and is expected to cooperate in a Howard trade so long as he gets a multi-year deal, free agents who have been part of Nets' various proposals and may be needed to make the money work -- a la Shelden Williams, Sundiata Gaines and Armon Johnson -- will be able to sign with other teams. The tentacles of the proposed deal stretched across more than 10 players and three teams on Monday, with the Nets recruiting a fourth team to take on guard MarShon Brooks in exchange for an additional draft pick to send to Orlando. Nevertheless, multiple complexities need to be resolved to complete the deal, including the negotiation of contracts for four of the players in the proposed trade: Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, Damion James and Shelden Williams. In the proposed deal, Howard, Jason Richardson and Earl Clark would be sent to Brooklyn, and the Magic would receive the Nets' Lopez, James, Williams and Armon Johnson, Cleveland's Luke Walton and three future first-round picks, sources said. Cleveland would receive Orlando's Quentin Richardson, Brooklyn's Sundiata Gaines, Humphries (on a one-year guaranteed deal), a first-round pick and $3 million from the Nets. Brooklyn also is in talks with the Los Angeles Clippers to exchange Brooks for an additional first-round pick to send to the Magic. If the Clippers decline to participate, other teams are in position to take on Brooks, sources said. Yahoo! Sports

Because her mother is the face of the WNBA, Lailaa garnered magazine covers before she was even born. In 2009, her mother became the first pregnant woman to appear on the cover of ESPN The Magazine. "Lailaa loves to perform when we go to my game or Candace's game, and she starts dancing and everyone starts paying attention to her," Williams said. "She's a ham and she knows it." ESPN.com

Williams may soon get his wish to spend more time with his baby girl. He said Parker is considering discontinuing overseas play once Lailaa starts school. More daddy-daughter time will give Williams a chance to work on a part of his game that is severely lacking -- fashion sense. "As she gets older, it's all about looking good with the outfits and her hair," Williams said. "I try to match the leggings with her Nike shirt. But when in doubt, I fall back on a white T-shirt and jeans. Candace doesn't like that." "When he does Lailaa's hair, I'm like, 'Why did you let my baby walk out the house looking like that?'" Parker said. "Sometimes he will just let it flow or dump the brush in hair lotion and pull it back with a headband on it." His skills as Daddy The Stylist may need work, but in every other realm of daddy daycare he's an all-star. "He is a great father, very hands-on, and she is in love with him," Parker said. ESPN.com

Nets rookie Jordan Williams took an elbow in the head from Pacers center Roy Hibbert and suffered what was called a mild concussion. He was around by the end of the night. Shelden Williams, however, who suffered a right eye injury, was not. Shelden Williams was sent to Hackensack University Medical Center for further examinations, and the Nets sounded ominous about his status. “We haven’t received an update on Shelden,” said coach Avery Johnson, who was hoping to hear some news Wednesday night. “Jordan had a mild — really mild — concussion, so we took him out for observations. We think he’s going to be OK. … [But] we’re really concerned about Shelden.” New York Post
