Shelden Williams, most recently with the New York Knicks, is also working out in Santa Monica. The lockout doesn't seem to be a worry for the former Duke Blue Devil. "I finally get family time so I can't complain," said Williams. "Honestly, I'm not even thinking about [the lockout]." His daughter Lailaa (with wife and WNBA star Candace Parker) turned two in May. Williams hopes at some point to add a sibling but he and Parker have yet to work out the timing. "We're going to add to the family but we have to plan it," said Sheldon. "My wife is playing in the summer time and she can't take off too much time. It has to be strategic." HoopsWorld

The Nets and Nuggets are discussing a deal that would send Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Melvin Ely, Renaldo Balkman and Shelden Williams to the Nets for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks, a league source with knowledge of the talks told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday night. Now, the pressure could be back on the New York Knicks to sweeten their offer and get Anthony before the Feb. 24 trade deadline. Knicks president Donnie Walsh has seemed willing to let Anthony go into free agency, when New York can try to sign him in the summer. The Knicks and Nuggets have negotiated steadily in recent weeks, but Denver has been frustrated with New York’s reluctance to part with key young players in a deal. Yahoo! Sports

Except for brief periods of time, after a trade or the release of someone, I cannot recall any player's sphere of influence overlapping lockers until visiting Denver. Now I know three. Chauncey Billups and Kenyon Martin each has jurisdiction over two cubicles, whereas 'Melo's monopoly only will be split for a price. "Shelden Williams wanted to move across the room into one of the empties," Harrington chuckled, "but 'Melo told him he'd have to buy it." New York Post

Williams said he also got minimum contract offers from Chicago and Utah before signing with Denver. He impressed the Nuggets with averages of 12.6 points and 7.9 rebounds in the preseason before erupting in the opener. "I just tried to be aggressive on the glass and tried to take as much as I can,'' Williams said. "Fortunately, it worked out well.'' It sure did. "It told him he played like Moses Malone as far as his rebounding,'' said Nuggets guard Anthony Carter. FanHouse.com

Williams, seeking to find a home after playing for five teams in four NBA seasons, scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds after replacing Harrington. Four of his seven field goals came on mid-range jump shots and he was aggressive enough to get to the free-throw line 10 times. “With Birdman and Kenyon being out, I think this is a great opportunity for me to actually come in and play,” Williams said. “This is a great situation for me. I’ve just got to continue to play well and hopefully it’ll work out.” NBA.com

For the third consecutive offseason, Anthony Carter signed a one-year, league-minimum deal with the Nuggets, doing so Wednesday with power forward Shelden Williams, who comes to Denver by way of Boston. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound Williams, who played sparingly for the Eastern Conference champion Celtics, will make $915,852, as set by the minimum contract pay scale. Carter, who backed up Chauncey Billups and Ty Lawson last season, will make $1.352 million. Denver Post
