Former Washington standout Spencer Hawes happened to show up at the St. Regis Hotel in New York where NBA owners are meeting to discuss the possible sale of the Sacramento Kings to an investment group that wants to relocate the team to Seattle. You might think Hawes would have divided loyalties. He grew up in Seattle and was drafted by Sacramento in 2007, playing three seasons with the Kings. However, Hawes is a diehard Sonics fan. "Honestly, I think it's going to be good to get it over with," Sixers center Spencer Hawes said. "With all the expectations we had coming in and the way the season has gone, it will be nice to take the positive going forward and try to flush the rest of it." Philadelphia Inquirer

Collins publicly mentioned that Hawes had just one rebound in 21 minutes. But instead of sulking, as he has sometimes done in the past, the 76ers’ 7-foot-1 center responded with much better play. “Spencer said, ‘I looked at myself and said that was the truth,’ ” Collins recalled after Wednesday’s 100-92 victory over the Bucks. “That’s what really good players do — examine themselves and say, ‘I can do better.’ That’s what he did.” Hawes said hearing it from Collins helped. “Coach (said), ‘We’ve got to know every night what you’re bringing to the table, what we’re going to get from you,’ ” Hawes said. “I think making a more concerted effort toward that has helped me and just slowing down (was important, too).” phillyburbs.com

Hawes said it's a bit "hypocritical" considering Seattle lost his hometown Sonics how Sacramento could lose the Kings but said this is business. "There’s a sale agreement that’s in place there was a pretty big check that was cashed to secure that it goes through," Hawes said. "This is a business and when you agree to sell a business I don’t think it’s necessarily written in any by- laws that you necessarily have the right to match any offer. I don’t know how all the intricacies of this work but I wish the first time around the city of Seattle would have acted like Sacramento did with all the efforts." Sulia

Amundson had been playing little with the Timberwolves, and said that before he was waived he had looked into whether a trade could be worked out. He said a possible deal that included Amundson going to Philadelphia with point guard Luke Ridnour for center Spencer Hawes was nixed by the Timberwolves due to concerns about that leaving them too thin at point guard as Ricky Rubio works his way back to full strength following knee surgery.
