After being charged with a felony count of criminal recklessness in October 2006 for firing shots outside of a strip club when he played in Indiana, Jackson was suspended seven games by the NBA at the start of that season. "He's had his issues. There's no doubt about it," Rivers said. "He's breathing and living and I think if that's true, you should always give a guy another chance.…The good news is contractually, if it doesn't work, we'll walk." Los Angeles Times

One of the ways the Clippers may do that is the rumored addition of veteran forward Stephen Jackson. Rivers said after the Cavaliers game that the team would exhaust all potential avenues to fill in for Barnes, Bullock and Redick. “We are close,” Rivers said of adding another player. “It’s not done yet. Nothing’s done in our league until it’s done.” NBA.com

Free agent forward Stephen Jackson has signed his contract agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers, a league source told RealGM. Jackson had been working on his deal with the Clippers, and the two sides reached completion on Monday afternoon. Jackson, 35, was waived by the San Antonio Spurs late last season – a tumultuous split that left the 16-year NBA veteran searching the market in free agency. RealGM

Jackson, meanwhile, has been working out on his own in Texas in hopes of hooking up with another contender. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich abruptly released the 35-year-old in April just six days before the end of the regular season because the Spurs felt that Jackson was unwilling to accept a lesser role in the playoffs behind fast-developing youngsters Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green. Spurs point guard Tony Parker left Saturday’s 121-96 preseason loss to Miami in the third quarter after banging a finger on the camera of a photographer seated on the baseline. Stephen Jackson sprained an ankle last season at MadisonSquareGarden tripping on a courtside waitress. In 2010, George Hill sprained an ankle after landing on a baseline photographer in Dallas. “It’s kind of like when you’re in your neighborhood. You keep telling people you need a stop sign, and they don’t change it until a kid gets killed and then they put up a stop sign,” Popovich said. “Somebody of stature is going to get seriously hurt by one of those guys, and then all hell will break loose.” San Antonio Express-News

Stephen Jackson’s previous appearance on ESPN’s Highly Questionable went so well, they couldn’t resist bringing him back last week for an encore performance. This time, completely unprompted, he got to tell Dan Le Batard and Bomani Jones the tale of how he ended up with his hand around the throat of former NBA All-Star Steve Francis during a recent club run-in. Jackson explained: “We wasn’t never cool. I don’t hang with him. I don’t call him. We’ve never been in the same circles. It was too packed for me to get to the stage. So I go in the DJ booth…and as soon as I start rapping, he jumps on the back of the DJ booth. “I don’t know why he jumped up there. He bumped me two times with his midsection. I felt his belt on my neck. So the third time he does it…I turn around and I ask him to get down. He said something crazy, one thing led to another, my hand end up on his throat and next thing he in cuffs.” San Antonio Express-News

It may not have been the "Malice at the Palace" but former San Antonio Spurs forward Stephen Jackson got into a scuffle with former NBA guard Steve Francis. Jackson, who also has a rap career, was doing his thing on the mic at a night club when Francis decided to steal some of the spotlight from "Stak 5". In the video below, check out Jackson rapping to the crowd when Francis is standing behind him and seems to get into words with someone else. That's when the scuffle begins as the video quickly shows Jackson choking Francis (at 25:30 point) as the crowd is trying to separate the two. ProjectSpurs.com

The Spurs forward also said he’s confident that he’ll sign with another team this summer, but so far he’s without an NBA contract. That uncertainty hasn’t stopped him from preparing as if he’s set to play in his 14th NBA season. Jackson took to Instagram today dripping in sweat after his second workout, and declared that he’d gotten his love back for the game after all that transpired at the end of a tough NBA season. Dime

Matt Barnes, according to a league source, is in the market for a full mini mid-level deal, and he'll likely sign with the Lakers or Clippers. Stephen Jackson is an intriguing candidate, but his salary has gone up every year he's been in the NBA. While Jackson might sacrifice some money this time around, $1.7 million sounds like a stretch. Another player to watch is Mickael Pietrus, whose name will be discussed among Knicks brass. Contrary to reports, the 31-year-old veteran was mostly healthy last season and has been impressive in recent pickup games. ESPN.com
