The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they have signed guard Sundiata Gaines to a 10-day contract. Gaines, 6-foot-1, 195 pounds has appeared in 40 regular season games with Minnesota and Utah averaging 3.2 points, 1.1 assists and 7.0 minutes. He was signed by Minnesota on November 12 and saw action in eight games totaling 21 points, six assists and 65 minutes. He was released by the Timberwolves on January 4. NBA.com
Newest Timberwolf Sundiata Gaines participated in shootaround at Target Center this morning after signing wih the team and he'll be there backup to Sebastian Telfair at point guard tonight. He makes no guarantees, however, about hitting a winning three-pointer at the buzzer. "Wayne is out, so Gaines will be the guy," Kurt Rambis said, referring to injured shooting guard Wayne Ellington (bruised thigh) who can play some backup point in a pinch. Minneapolis Star-Tribune
The Wolves on Thursday waived guard Maurice Ager, clearing the way for them to sign former Utah Jazz and NBA Development League guard Sundiata Gaines. The Wolves are looking for more of a natural point guard as insurance while questions remain about Flynn and injured Luke Ridnour and Wayne Ellington. Minneapolis Star-Tribune
The Bulls worked out Patrick Beverley and Sundiata Gaines, a source said, but they haven't decided if they will add a 14th, non-guaranteed, contract. Chicago Tribune
