Teammates Thaddeus Young called Hawes’ past month “ridiculous.” “We’re going to try to keep that ridiculousness going,” Young said. “Spencer’s been playing great. When he’s playing with that type of energy, that type of intensity, he makes it better for all of the guys on the team.” phillyburbs.com |

The Magic's overall ATH score is 0.913, which is comfortably behind the New Orleans Hornets' mark of 0.926 for last in the league. Orlando's most athletic players are rookie forward Maurice Harkless, second-year forward Tobias Harris, and veteran big man Glen Davis. Entering Wednesday's games, Harkless ranked as the league's 120th most athletic player. No other team in the league had its most athletic player ranked so low overall; the Philadelphia 76ers, with gadget forward Thaddeus Young (85th in the league), came closest to matching the Magic in this respect. ![]() After Monday's win over the Trail Blazers, Thaddeus Young said he would welcome back Bynum – an unrestricted free agent – for next season, assuming he was fully healed from the arthroscopic surgery on both knees. “Many guys have had knee surgeries and things done to them surgically and they've come back even better,” Young said. “It's all about (Bynum) getting back to the gym, getting back his rhythm and getting into the groove of basketball. Young is one of the hardest-working players in the league, and he’s one of the guys in the league that every coach knows plays hard every single game. In the last five games, not long after coming back from a hamstring injury, Young has averaged 20.6 points on 69.4 percent shooting (50 of 72). In the last three games Young has pulled down 12, 10 and 15 rebounds per game. So get a good look at him now. The Sixers don’t want to trade him, but no one is going to be calling them this summer and not bring up his name. Philadelphia Inquirer |

![]() Thaddeus Young was told he could expect to miss about three weeks with a hamstring injury, yet the sixth-year 76ers forward was trying to look on the bright side. An MRI exam on Tuesday revealed a Grade 1 left hamstring strain that occurred in the second quarter of Monday's 78-61 win over the visiting Orlando Magic. "Considering how it felt and me feeling like a rubber band popping, you think it's much worse than it is," Young said Tuesday after the Sixers finished practice. "You just thank God it wasn't a season-ending injury or that I could have been out two months." Philadelphia Inquirer |

The 76ers have also made inquiries about big men around the league, a likely indication that they're not expecting Andrew Bynum on the court any time soon -- or, at least, not expecting him to be very effective when he comes back. Other than Jrue Holiday, I'm told, no one is off limits -- though it would take something immense to get Philly to part with Thaddeus Young or Evan Turner. NBA.com |

But when the Sixers line ‘em in the season opener against Denver on Oct. 31, expect Young to start the game on the bench. “I’d like to continue to play Thad off the bench. I like his energy and his attitude he brings to us,” Collins said earlier this week when the team introduced Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson. CSNPhilly.com “From all the reports I got, he has his weight up to 229 pounds — he finished the season at 215,” Collins said. “The one thing with Thad is if you put him with a big guy that protects him, it makes him much better. So we think he’s going to be even better with Kwame and Andrew, who is going to be an even bigger help with the speed and quickness he plays with. Thad is going to be a big part of what we do.” CSNPhilly.com |

A league source said the interest in Williams throughout the league is "significant" and that a contract to land him could be "in the Thaddeus Young range." Before this past season, Young signed a 5-year deal worth close to $43 million. Philadelphia Inquirer |

Sixers forwards Thaddeus Young and Elton Brand are both expected to play in tonight's Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against Boston. The Sixers said Brand has a strained neck that is impacting the left side of his body. He saw a chiropractor Sunday and was still sore Monday during the team's light shootaround. Brand said the neck has been bothering him for about a week. Philadelphia Inquirer Thaddeus Young sat courtside after Sunday's film/shooting session at TD Garden with an ice pack wrapped around his right shin. While the team relayed to the media during Game 1 Saturday that he had sprained his right ankle, Young cleared up the injury a bit Sunday. "I actually got kneed in the shin, which caused me to roll my ankle a little bit, but it was the shin that hurt," Young said. "I tried to run it out but it kind of spasmed up a little bit. I'll be fine. I'll definitely play [in Game 2 Monday night]." Philadelphia Inquirer |

If Rose's injury keeps him out for a significant period of time, that would affect the entire landscape of the Eastern Conference playoffs, starting with this first series with the 76ers. "It definitely changes things a lot," Philadelphia forward Thaddeus Young said. "Derrick Rose is one of their key guys. He's the guy who initiates everything, the one that gets them going. "It's an unfortunate situation. You definitely don't want to see him go down like that in the first game in the first round of the playoffs. At the end of the game, I think he should have been out at that time, but you just hope for the best and hope that he's OK." CSN Chicago |

Thaddeus Young knows these are the words that came out of Iguodala's mouth, mostly because he was an eyewitness when Iguodala walked up to Williams in front of a few teammates and apologized. "I think it was all taken out of context," Young said Saturday before the Sixers played a crucial game against Orlando. "I think it was more of a joke than anything. We have always had inside jokes about Lou not playing defense. But we know what each and every person brings to the table. Dre probably said it, but it was taken out of context. Personally, when I heard it I knew he was playing, just because I know Dre." Philadelphia Inquirer |

Sixers coach Doug Collins said it’s no mystery as to why forward Thaddeus Young had one of his worst games of the season Wednesday against the Knicks. Collins said it’s because Young’s weight is down to 213 pounds, or two less pounds than guard Evan Turner. “My two-guard weighs more than my power forward,” Collins said. He said Young’s weight loss stems from the upper respiratory virus that he had two weeks ago that kept him out of the game March 7 against the Celtics. Typically, Young weighs around 220 pounds, although Collins would like him to be 225 pounds. Courier-Post |

The 76ers have re-signed forward Thaddeus Young to a five-year contract worth $43 million, multiple NBA sources confirmed on Friday. The fifth year of the contract is Young's option. The Sixers, who held their first practice of the season on Friday, had pegged re-signing Young as their "top priority" for the NBA's abbreviated free agency period, which officially commenced Friday. Young did not participate in Friday's session, but is expected to rejoin the team for Saturday afternoon's practice. Philadelphia Inquirer |
