One executive deemed him a better version of Nuggets rookie Kenneth Faried, a high-energy forward who led the nation in rebounding in his senior season at Morehead State but still had his doubters entering the NBA as the No. 22 pick in the 2011 draft. Faried thrived in the second half of the season and helped Denver push the Lakers to seven games in the first round of the playoffs. "Thomas Robinson is the same kind of guy -- undersized, big motor, but more skilled," the executive said. "Maybe you put him in the star category." SI.com |

It won't take long for the next power forward to join Davis shaking Commissioner David Stern's hand. Kansas' Robinson got a slight nod among personnel types over Ohio State's Sullinger, but the difference is tiny. Either could go in the top five, depending on who's doing the picking and what they need. "Robinson's next," said a veteran Western Conference scout whose team won't be picking high enough to take him. "He's probably a more aggressive player. Although Sullinger can step out and shoot the jump shot, whereas Thomas really can't. But if you're looking at the playoffs, you're looking at guys like (Memphis') Dante Cunningham, and (the Clippers') Reggie Evans, those forwards who change the game because they play so hard and they're aggressive and they can rebound. Robinson can do that." NBA.com |

With only a handful of days removed from the NCAA tournament, Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor have their eyes on the NBA. While signing autographs for fans, the two discussed what their plans for the upcoming NBA Draft that’ll take place in June. After an up and down four years at the University, Taylor is projected to be a late-first or early-second round pick, which varies among different mock drafts. Chad Ford, of ESPN Insider, has Taylor ranked as the 33rd overall prospect in this year’s draft. When asked about Ford’s projected outcome for him, Taylor laughed and said, “Thirty-three? Really?” In order to improve on that draft grade, Taylor acknowledges he there areparts of his game that he needs to elevate. “I’m just have to keep working hard, work on my jump shot and work on things they say I can’t do well,” Taylor said. “Can’t worry about what the mock drafts say and just continue to get better.” Kansan.com Both players have different things to offer whichever teams decide to take the Jayhawks’ star players. Taylor and Robinson said they are both willing to do whatever they have to for their respective teams to succeed. Each has an ideal team in mind, when considering the draft. (Thomas) Robinson has really impressed scouts with his added face the basket skills. With a huge wingspan, the junior has played with great energy all season. Showing the ability to consistently knock down mid-range shots, as well as get to the rim off the dribble has elevated his stock to a likely Top 10 pick, according to scouts. He's got the consistent motor and fire that seems to be lacking from fellow Big 12 forward prospect Perry Jones. HoopsHype |

I've been a major Thomas Robinson (Rank: 5) fan since the start of his sophomore year. Last season we had him ranked as a late lottery pick on our Big Board and came into this season with him in our top 10. After seeing him live for three games in Maui, I was really impressed and inched him up a few spots on the board. But lately? Wow. Robinson is clearly getting more comfortable in his role as KU's go-to guy and is showing more of his offensive repertoire and quietly winning over a number of skeptical NBA scouts. "I've always thought he was a bit of niche player," one prominent NBA GM said. "To me he was an undersized rebounder who gave you some energy off the bench. But I've watched him a ton this season and every game I think he gets better. He's got more to his game than I've given him credit for. If he's going to keep up this learning curve, he could be a great NBA player. Great." ESPN.com |
