Thomas Robinson was involved in a car accident after Monday night’s Sacramento Kings win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at Sleep Train Arena. The accident occurred at the intersection of Del Paso Blvd. and Broadgate Dr. when Robinson apparently drove his white Porsche Panamera over a concrete divide at speeds that are unknown at this time. The vehicle, which faced the wrong way in the turn lane following the accident, sustained major damage according to various eyewitness reports. Cowbell Kingdom

According to three people with knowledge of the situation who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, part of the reason the Kings drafted forward Thomas Robinson fifth overall out of Kansas in June instead of Rookie of the Year frontrunner and Weber State point guard Damian Lillard (who went sixth to Portland) was because of internal doubt about ownership's ability or willingness to pony up for restricted free agent forward Jason Thompson. After finding out the news about his teammate, rookie Thomas Robinson adhered to his coach’s message. “I think (my reaction) was pretty much, ‘We have to work and stay together as a team, come out and have a good practice,” said No. 0. The Kings' only rookie continues to be reminded that his NBA education is an ongoing process. After some early struggles, Thomas Robinson – selected fifth in the NBA draft after being projected to go as high as No. 2 – realized he needed to re-evaluate his approach. "My rookie season's not going exactly as I envisioned it, but I'm just trying to work my way out of it," Robinson said. "Trying to get back to where I want to be." When studying film, coach Keith Smart showed Robinson instances where he wasn't running the court as hard as he could, a must for a player who might be the most athletic on the roster. Sacramento Kings rookie Thomas Robinson will experience his share of first experiences this season, but serving a two game suspension didn't figure to be one of them.
