Giving in to the fatigue factor could spell disaster for a player's value, as the talent evaluators aren't grading on a curve no matter how many workouts a prospect has endured. Players like Harris and Williams have an even greater challenge, as they're both big-bodied young men who need a regimented diet to stay in playing shape. Life on the road, of course, doesn't make that very easy. "You learn to take care of your body, watch what you eat, eat the right foods and really prepare yourself for each workout going in, have the right mindset, have the right focus," said Harris, the 18-year-old, 6-foot-8 forward who trimmed down from 238 pounds to 223 this season after an ankle injury led to an increase in weight. "The main thing with me is eating enough food and continuing to eat once you're traveling and getting tired, staying hydrated." SI.com Williams, who is listed at 6-9 and 250 pounds, is struggling to keep his weight down while on the road. "I can look at food and gain weight," Williams said of his metabolism. "I gained ... three or four pounds traveling on the road. It's been tough, because here [while working in Las Vegas] I was in a routine every day, eating the same things every day, same habits every day. "To go from that to being on the road, where you're always picking up something quick -- you can't ever make a meal like you can out here. It's definitely tough. Really, really tough." SI.com |

We may have Kansas' Marcus Morris, Tennessee's Tobias Harris and Wisconsin's Jon Leuer too low. A number of GMs I spoke with had Morris in the lottery. "Morris may not blow you away in any one area, but the more we've been breaking him down on Synergy, the more we feel like he's got a real shot to be very good in our league," one GM said. "I don't know how he slips out of the lottery." We had him at No. 18 on our Board. We've moved him up to 13 in our latest rankings. ESPN.com |

Tobias Harris said he might return to Tennessee for another season. From the sounds of it, that's largely because of the Freshman All-American forward's budding relationship with new men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin. "I think the coaching staff is really a great group of guys; they are pretty much amazing,'' said Harris, who met with the media Tuesday for the first time since Martin was hired on March 27. "I think people need to give them more respect,'' he said. "Coach Martin, he's tough, and a lot of people don't know that. He's pushing me, not only in these workouts, but as a person, also.'' There's been plenty of talk about whether Tennessee forward Tobias Harris will soon go to the NBA. As far as coach Bruce Pearl is concerned, the freshman is already a professional. Harris is serious while his teammates like to ham it up on the court; he opts to get extra shots in while the rest of the Volunteers are goofing off. That businesslike approach has helped him become one of the top freshmen in the country this year. Tennessee freshman forward Tobias Harris already playing like a professional. "He's played terrifically. He has played great down the stretch," Pearl said. "He's a professional at a very, very young age because of his discipline, his toughness, his mental focus, his preparation." Chicago Tribune That attitude should serve him well if he does opt to enter the NBA draft after this season ends. Like so many players, it's a dream of his but not one that he's thinking about too much right now. "It's not really on my mind because I'm here to win games, and that's what I'm focused on," Harris said. "When people bring it up, I kind of just shy away from it and tell them I'm just focusing on the season, which I am. After this season's over, that's definitely something that's going to be worth thinking about." Chicago Tribune |
