All-Star point guard Tony Parker became the first Spurs player chastised under the NBA’s new anti-flopping policy, receiving an official warning for what the league deemed an acting job in the first half of Friday’s 122-116 win over Houston. On the play in question, which can be viewed here, Parker is elevating for a defensive rebound when Rockets guard Toney Douglas extends his hand toward Parker’s back. Parker goes sprawling to the ground on the baseline, and no foul is whistled. San Antonio Express-News

While much of the attention in the Rockets road trip will be on Jeremy Lin’s return to New York, the other former Knicks point guard on the Rockets roster, Toney Douglas, heads out of town on a roll. Douglas has scored in double figures in his past six games, making 54.6 percent of his shots in that stretch. After a slow start to the season, Douglas is making 43.3 percent of his 3-pointers. “I knew just stay the course and they’ll go,” Douglas said of his 1 of 10 start from the 3-point arc in the season’s first six games. “After I had my shoulder surgery (after last season) it took a little while to get that right. This summer when I got traded, I was here working out, being consistent. I didn’t start off too good shooting. I didn’t get down. I knew what I’m capable of doing. It was just a matter of time to hit a couple shots and get going.” Houston Chronicle

Machado made the Rockets opening night roster when the Rockets waived veteran guard Shaun Livingston on Monday. Rockets coach Kevin McHale had given Livingston extensive praise and playing time last week, but the Rockets opted to go with Machado and Toney Douglas as backup point guards. With the release of Livingston along with the players the Rockets had determined to let go on Sunday — Lazar Hayward, Gary Forbes, Jon Brockman and JaJuan Johnson – the Rockets moved $7.5 million under the luxury tax. All five had guaranteed deals, though just $1 million of the $3.5 million remaining on Livingston’s contract was guaranteed. After the roster moves, the Rockets will be an average of just 23.6-years-old on opening night, with just 1.93 seasons of NBA experience. Houston Chronicle

If they landed Nash via a sign-and-trade with Phoenix, the Knicks would not bepart with point guard Iman Shumpert, who the Suns liked in last year's draft. New York is willing to part with a package that features Landry Fields, Toney Douglas, $3 million and the non-guaranteed salaries of Dan Gadzuric and Jerome Jordan. Fields is a restricted free agent who could be signed to a deal while Douglas' contract could be seen as an expiring contract whose salary is more than covered by the cash component. The Suns could waive Gadzuric and Jordan at no cost. Arizona Republic
