Rookie center Bernard James is expected to sign his contract in the next day or two, according to his agent Happy Walters. The 27-year-old Air Force staff sergeant is the last of the Dallas Mavericks' three picks to sign. ESPN.com

Second-round picks must negotiate a salary and their contracts are not guaranteed by the collective bargaining agreement. However, Walters, James' agent, said that his client will have a guaranteed contract for the 2012-13 season. ESPN.com

The New Orleans Hornets have come to terms with power forward Anthony Davis and guard Austin Rivers, a formality since the collective bargaining agreement has established the compensation level for first-round picks. New Orleans Times-Picayune

Davis, the first overall pick in last month's NBA draft, will earn $5.144 million in the first year of his three-year guaranteed deal while Rivers, as the 10th overall choice, is slotted by the CBA to earn $1.865 million in the first year of his three-year contract. New Orleans Times-Picayune

Satoransky has some talent and considerable athleticism, but the Wizards still intend to stick to their plan of stashing the second-round pick in Europe next season, according to a league source with knowledge of the team’s thinking. Satoransky would have needed a spectacular performance to change the original plan. In five summer league games, the 6-foot-7 Satoransky didn’t overwhelm anyone. He averaged just 4.4 points and 1.8 assists and shot just 37.5 percent (6 of 16) from the floor while backing up Shelvin Mack. Washington Post
